WILMINGTON, DELAWARE: Two days after President Joe Biden issued a pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, the federal gun case against him in Delaware was terminated on Tuesday, December 3.

The case was closed by the judge overseeing it, ending legal proceedings related to the federal felony firearm charges.

Proceedings in Hunter Biden's gun case and tax-related charges 'terminated'

US District Judge Maryellen Noreika stated in a docket entry, “In the absence of binding precedent for a case that had yet to reach sentencing, all proceedings in this case are hereby terminated," ABC News reported.

Fox News reported that prosecutors had urged Judge Noreika to terminate the case rather than dismiss the indictment to preserve the record of the case for offenses he "has committed or may have committed" from January 1, 2014, through December 1, 2024.

A Delaware jury found Hunter guilty of all three federal felony firearm charges this summer.

Additionally, Hunter had pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges in California, also covered by the pardon. His sentencing date had been scheduled for December 12 before the pardon was announced.

Marjorie Taylor Greene demands 'blanket pardon' for Republicans

President Joe Biden, while granting the pardon to his son Hunter Biden, described the investigation as “infected” by politics, claiming it led to a “miscarriage of justice.”

In a statement, he said, “No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son — and that is wrong.”

Meanwhile, in response to the controversy surrounding the pardon, Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested Republicans should pursue their own “blanket pardon.”

She posted on X, formerly Twitter, “If Democrats are going to play the pardon game, then we should do the same thing. Trump can just blanket pardon all of us too.”

Social media reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene's remark on 'blanket pardon'

Marjorie Taylor Greene's post prompted reactions on social media. Laura Loomer replied, “JUST IN: MTG admits she has done something that would make her need a pardon.”

Another user questioned, “What do you and colleagues need a pardon for?”

Defending Greene, one user responded, “No, she said this: If Democrats are going to play the pardon game then we should do the same thing. Trump can just blanket pardon all of us too. I like you, Laura, but come on!”

Another user penned, “Accepting a pardon carries an imputation of guilt. What crimes did you commit, Marge?”
