WASHINGTON, DC: Hillary Clinton recalled a lively moment with Barack Obama during the opening of the Obama Presidential Center, saying she hoped Donald Trump was watching their exchange.

Clinton shared the story at a Nebraska Democratic Party event on Saturday. She remembered laughing at a remark Michelle Obama made about her husband's Nobel Peace Prize and leaning forward to tell the former president she hoped Trump had heard it.

Clinton remembered sitting just behind Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, and their daughters at the June opening ceremony in Chicago, alongside her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and other former presidents and first ladies.

When Michelle started speaking, Clinton said she could not help laughing, especially when the former first lady brought up Obama's Nobel Peace Prize.

"I was at the opening of the Obama library, which I hope you all get to visit, and, you know, Bill and I were up there with the former presidents and first ladies and sitting behind, you know, Barack and Michelle and their daughters," Clinton said at a Saturday event for the Nebraska Democratic Party.

"So, when Michelle gave that very touching and clever speech about all the things that her husband had done that the other guy hasn't, and when she got to, and then, you know, the Nobel Peace Prize, I just burst into laughter," she added, seemingly referencing Trump.

Michelle's speech included a reference to Obama's Nobel Peace Prize, which he received in 2009. Clinton said the remark came as part of a list highlighting achievements by the former president that she suggested Trump had not matched.

"I thought it was so perfect. And, so, Barack turns around and he kind of, you know, grins at me, and so I lean forward and I said, 'I really hope that Donald Trump is watching this, and I really hope he heard that line. And, you know, I think he's got to feel like he is, you know, in the 10th circle of hell or something because of this litany of everything you've done,' and Barack goes, 'Yeah, me too. I hope so.'"

Trump renews calls for the Nobel Peace Prize

Clinton's recollection comes as Trump has continued to complain about not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. He has argued that the United States deserved the honor under his leadership.

On Friday night, Trump addressed the issue in a Truth Social post, arguing that the US should have received the award with him as president. He also criticized Norway over the decision and accused the prize committee of being "Radical Ideologues."

Trump wrote that the US, represented by him, should have received the award but did not. He described the outcome as an "indelible stain on Norway" and said the country would not be forgotten.

Trump also repeated his claim that he had "settled eight Wars" and said he was "about to settle, or win, two more," referring to Iran and the Russia-Ukraine war.

"The United States of America, represented by me, as your President, should have received the Nobel Peace Prize, but didn't," he wrote.

His latest comments kept the Nobel Peace Prize in the political spotlight, providing context for Clinton's recollection of her exchange with Obama at the presidential center's opening ceremony.
