‘I salute your journey’: Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles pays tribute to Hayden Panettiere
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Solange Knowles is honoring her former 'Bring It On: All or Nothing' costar Hayden Panettiere with a heartfelt tribute following her sudden and tragic death on Sunday, August 16.
The two actresses starred in the 2006 film as rival cheerleading captains, with Knowles 20 and Panettiere days away from turning 17 when the movie was released.
She remembered her former costar in an Instagram Story, sharing photos of the two together from the film.
Solange Knowles honors Hayden Panettiere’s legacy
In the Story post, Knowles wrote, 'Rest in peace Hayden. In peace, because you are deserving of it. We had so many parallels, and the world watched you so courageously live in your radical truth telling your story. We watched your endless quest for vulnerability and healing."
She continued, "I salute your journey and I honor the work we created together that became something that really means something to people... reaching people we never could've imagined at that time, as two young girls, trying to keep looking to the light. The light surrounds you now. Rest easy Hayden."
Knowles, the 'Binz' singer and sister to Beyonce Knowles-Carter, also shared photos of herself and Panettiere posing together in their cheerleading uniforms, adding the caption 'warriors for life.'
Francia Raisa and other castmates from the 2006 movie also paid tribute to the late actress, with Raisa revealing she was 'stuck' after hearing about her death.
Panettiere was found unresponsive at Judson Mill Lofts in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16, the Greenville Police Department confirmed.
Officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the apartment complex after an acquaintance of hers called 911. Upon arrival, medical assistance was administered; however, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hayden Panettiere’s career and death investigation
The case is under investigation by the Greenville Police Department in conjunction with the Greenville County Coroner's Office.
The preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.
Panettiere's father, Skip Panettiere, shared, "It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her – and to the millions who watched her onscreen."
Her professional acting career began in 1994, when she was cast in ABC's 'One Life to Live.'
She went on to appear in several shows and films as a child star before landing a high-profile role on 'Heroes' as a cheerleader with self-healing powers.
From 2012 to 2018, Panettiere starred opposite Connie Britton across all six seasons of ABC's musical drama series 'Nashville.'
Following the finale of 'Heroes' in 2010, she starred in 'Scream 4' in 2011 and reprised her role in 2023's 'Scream 6.'
Earlier this year, she released her tell-all memoir, 'This Is Me: A Reckoning,' detailing her struggles growing up in the spotlight, private addiction battles and more. She leaves behind her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, with former fiancé Wladimir Klitschko.
