WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, has put to rest the swirling rumors about Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley being on his vice-presidential shortlist.

The comment came hours after a report suggested she was in the Trump campaign's vice president conversation.

Donald Trump wishes Nikki Haley well

Dismissing the rumors, Trump posted on Truth Social writing, “Nikki Haley is not under consideration for the VP slot, but I wish her well!” signing the post, "DJT."

Earlier a report from Axios and other media outlets suggested that Haley was being considered for the VP role while citing anonymous sources.

“Two people familiar with the dynamic," claimed Haley is now "under active consideration by Donald Trump's campaign to be his running mate," the publication reported, but with Trump's announcement, the report has been updated.

Nikki Haley has not endorsed Donald Trump

The idea of a Trump-Haley ticket had been seen as politically advantageous.

Haley's affluent donor network might have assisted Trump in mitigating his fundraising challenges which have been intensified by legal expenses from continuous litigation, notes CNBC.

Moreover, Haley, who has yet to endorse Trump, could have been a valuable asset in winning over Republican voters skeptical of Trump.

These voters have been targeted by President Joe Biden’s campaign ever since Haley suspended her presidential campaign in March.

“If you voted for Nikki Haley, Donald Trump doesn't want your vote," Joe Biden's 2024 campaign advertisement mentions according to reports.

Despite suspending her campaign, Haley received votes, including nearly 22% of the votes in Indiana’s Thursday primary.

Nikki Haley has no Presidential timber

Trump made his views clear at a New Hampshire rally in January, stating, "She is OK, but she is not presidential timber."

"And when I say that, that probably means she is not going to be chosen as the vice president," he added suggesting that this meant she would not be chosen as VP.

Haley, for her part, has repeatedly stated that she has no interest in the vice-presidential seat.

They also have different views on issues such as the war and changing programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

Haley has pushed to send more resources to Ukraine and allow it to become part of NATO; Trump has not, according to Axios.

Trump has also attacked Haley for her proposed reforms such as raising the retirement age for future generations.

Tucker Carlson and Don Jr's comments about Nikki Haley

Trump, however, has refrained from commenting on any potential VP picks, stating in a recent interview, “I don’t want to comment on anybody on the list.”

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and Trump's son Don Jr have also previously made comments about Trump not voting for Haley ensuring does not have a Ticket.

Don Jr said in December he would "go to great lengths to make sure" Haley was not in the ticket," while Carlson revealed he "would not only not vote for that ticket, I would advocate against it as strongly as I could."

Trump is said to likely pick his running mate close to the Republican National Convention in July.

Internet reacts to Nikki Haley not being considered for running mate

The Internet had mixed reactions over Nikki Haley being dropped as a running mate of Trump.

Even as some suggest it was a good decision, some argued she was the only way out for Trump to have secured a term.

"Obviously Nicky Haley is still taking away votes from traitor tRump even though she’s not in the race anymore," wrote on X.

"It doesn’t matter who you pick! You’re done!" wrote one more. Another added, "Nikki Halley cashed out and is now counting her money."

One expresses, "Thank God," and another user wrote, "I'm sure you'll make a wise choice, having had experience."

"Thank you for clarifying. They’re really trying hard to tarnish your name," wrote one, "Thank goodness! (Never doubted you for a second)," posted another.

"Nikki Haley is no longer running for president, but people are still voting for her. That’s gotta sting a bit, huh? Anyway, Trump will lose again in 2024. Apparently, Trump likes losing," noted one.

One noted, "Only way he coulda won, but I congratulate her for not soiling herself - literally and figuratively- with that hot mess.""
