Anthony Kazmierczak allegedly sprayed a pungent liquid from a syringe on the lefty congresswoman as she spoke at the event. Later, it was found out that the liquid was apple cider vinegar.
Anthony Kazmierczak told neighbor about his plan
The 55-year-old suspect had shared with his neighbor Brian Kelley that he would do something at the town hall, which could result in his arrest as well.
“He said, ‘I’m going to this Omar thing.’ I’m like, Omar what? He said, ‘This town hall thing.’ And he said, ‘I might get arrested,’” Kelley shared with The New York Post.
The neighbor continued that he thought Kazmierczak was talking “nonsense” and he “wasn’t going to do anything stupid. I said, ‘Sure, I’ll walk her.’ But then the next day he said, ‘Don’t worry about it, I’ve got it covered.’ I figured he blew that off.”
Anthony Kazmierczak is physically weak and has Parkinson’s, claims his neighbor
Following his alleged attack, Kazmierczak was immediately caught by Minneapolis Police Department officers before being booked into Hennepin County Jail for third-degree assault.
About the man, Kelley said that he has been “heavily medicated” after going through an accident that badly affected his spine. He was not able to do much physically after that. Besides, Kazmierczak also has Parkinson’s.
The neighbor went on to reveal how Kazmierczak was a "pretty conservative guy” who “doesn’t like Omar.” “He doesn’t say much about stuff, but he’ll send articles and posts about different things,” Kelley added.
About his action against Omar, the neighbor claimed that he’s “surprised, but not overly surprised. I figured when he said he was going to go to the town hall, he’d stand up and say something stupid. I can’t imagine him assaulting or spraying somebody.”
Ilhan Omar says 'small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me'
Meanwhile, Minneapolis Council Member LaTrisha Vetaw, who also got some liquid on herself during the attack, shared: "It smelled like vinegar or ammonia. It started out smelling really like apple cider vinegar-smelly. Then it started to smell like ammonia, like a strong, pure ammonia smell, I was wondering why the smell wasn’t going away.”
“I got sick to my stomach. I went outside and threw up because, like, the smell was so strong,” Vetaw added.
I’m ok. I’m a survivor so this small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me from doing my work.
