NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to emphasize the unity among Americans on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

He shared a clip from his March 7 State of the Union address, where he said that people, who have arrived in the United States from across the globe throughout time, are all Americans.

However, netizens appeared to be less open to the idea, with the present border crisis situation driving up illegal immigration to record highs.

President Joe Biden talks about unity among Americans

From his official POTUS X account, Biden shared the SOTU clip where he can be seen stating, "We're the only nation in the world with a heart and soul that draws from old and new."

"Home to Native Americans, whose ancestors have been here for thousands of years. Home to people from every place on earth. They came freely. Some came in chains. Some came when famine struck, like my ancestral family in Ireland. Some to free persecution. To chase dreams that are impossible anywhere but here in America," he added.

"That's America. And we all come from somewhere. But we're all Americans," he added, as the House gave him a standing ovation.

Biden highlighted his key message by captioning the video, "We all come from somewhere, but we’re all Americans."

Internet slams President Joe Biden's tweet about American unity

Netizens remain concerned about illegal immigrats coming into the United States, and are less welcoming to the idea as a result.

"Illegals are not Americans. But you want them to be for votes. We know," claimed a social media user.

"Sounds cool, but that is not really true is it? There are millions of non-Americans living in the US, some legally, some- not so much," noted another.

"Just because they are here, doesn’t make them American," wrote a third.

"Illegal immigrants aren’t Americans…..They are illegal immigrants that shouldn’t be in our country," echoed a fourth.

"Joe Biden is basically trying to say that illegals are Americans. He’s trying to make up for insulting his base when he properly called Laken Riley’s mųrderer an illegal. This is disgraceful. Illegals are not Americans and they should all be deported. Every single one," commented a fifth.
