LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: President Donald Trump’s ardent supporter James Woods took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce he’s not affiliated with the Republican Party anymore.

In his Friday, March 6, post, the ‘Casino’ star wrote, “I am done with the Republican Party. Between this and [John] Thune’s refusal to pass the SAVE Act, I’m done with these uniparty traitors.”

“I’m changing my party affiliation to Independent. No wonder President Trump is fighting an uphill battle every day,” Woods added.

The announcement from Woods appeared to stem from an X video that credited Rep Nancy Mace, saying, “I tried to subpoena her [Ilhan Omar] immigration records, her brother husband's immigration records, and IT WAS REPUBLICANS that killed my motion.”

The post also added a note that read, “WOW 🚨 The Republican Party is protecting Ilhan Omar from accountability. It’s a Uniparty. One Big Club.”

Trump claimed Ilhan Omar married her brother

Many Republicans, including Trump, have alleged that Omar’s first husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, was actually her brother. The allegation first appeared on a Somali-American internet forum in 2016.

Last year, during a rally-style event in Pennsylvania, the 79-year-old once again reiterated, “She’s here illegally. She should get the hell out. Throw her the hell out! She does nothing but complain.”

Ilhan Omar called Trump's allegations 'vile'

But Omar fired back, saying that the accusations are “vile and it is, I believe, a really unhealthy and creepy obsession that he has with me.”

“Everybody knows I came to the United States at the age of 12 on a refugee status and became a citizen when I was 17 and obviously I’m a duly elected member of Congress and so my status is not in question in any kind of way,” the 43-year-old asserted.

The Democratic congresswoman also claimed that Trump likes to distract people by raising irrelevant topics.

“He hasn’t been able to address the affordability issues that the American people are still feeling … Cue the bigotry. It’s the same playbook and he just goes back to it; he doesn’t know anything else,” Omar claimed.

She added, “They’ve always had these fascinating accusations of trying to prove a negative so that this story continues to exist. We had the ‘birther’ story when [Barack] Obama was clearly born here and even when birth certificates were made available.”
