WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Eric Swalwell (D-CA) took several digs at Ben Shapiro, and even managed to slide in a humorous remark about his sex life, during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, July 10.

The Daily Wire's editor emeritus, who appeared before the GOP-led to testify about media "collusion," was bombarded with questions concerning his support for Project 2025 by the California lawmaker, according to The New Republic.

Pointing to the right-wing Project 2025's proposal to ban same-sex marriage, Eric Swalwell asked Ben Shapiro, "You think it’s a sin to have same-sex marriage? I’m just asking, is it a sin to be gay?"

Shapiro replied, "From a religious Jewish perspective, orientation is not a sin, but activity is."

Then, Swalwell displayed a large printout of a statement made by Shapiro in a 2018 interview with Slate where he used himself as an example to defend his opposition to "homosexual activity," stating, "For example, I may have a desire to sleep with many women, but I do not."

Shapiro interjected, "I agree with me," at which Swalwell hit back, "I’m sure it’s very hard to restrain yourself".

The ridiculous exchange of questions came after the California Democrat had asked the conservative commentator about his thoughts on several other Project 2025-related topics, most of which he had agreed with.

Shapiro argued against responsible media practices for the remainder of the hearing. He claimed that laws prohibiting hate speech and misinformation hurt conservatives' right to free speech and harm those who create far-right content, including Fox News, Breitbart, and Shapiro's own Daily Wire.

He declared in his testimony, "It is time to stand up for the First Amendment in this Congress."

Internet trolls Ben Shapiro as Eric Swalwell roasts his sex life

Soon after Ben Shapiro and Eric Swalwell's back-and-forth over Project 2025 came to light, many netizens mocked the Daily Wire editor over the congressman's comment on his sex life.

One wrote, "Ben’s testimony left us high and dry," and another added, "Ben Shapiro seems a wee bit insecure."

"Shapiro was definitely the weird kid in school that kept on getting weirder," joked a person. "What is this clown show? How did we get here," commented a netizen about them sparring.

One more asked, "Why is he at a congressional hearing?" whereas another person quipped, "Any sexual activity that involves Ben Shapiro is forbidden."
