Internet agrees with Eric Swalwell as he says electing Joe Biden over Donald Trump is ‘the way out’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Representative Eric Swalwell (D-Calif) has made a compelling case for reelecting President Joe Biden this fall, stating it is the only way to address issues with the Supreme Court and protect citizens' rights.
His comments came during an interview with MSNBC’s Ali Velshi where he discussed various topics including former President Donald Trump's legal battles, a recent Supreme Court ruling, and the upcoming election.
Eric Swalwell says Donald Trump has three appointed judges 'in his palm'
Swalwell, who is a member of the House Judiciary Committee, expressed concern about the implications of a second Trump administration.
He highlighted that Trump has already shown his intentions through his Project 2025 policy agenda, warning that more rights could be at risk if Trump returns to office.
Swalwell pointed to Trump’s previous term, during which he appointed three Supreme Court judges, leading to the overturning of Roe v Wade.
“Just imagine what a second term with Donald Trump would look like. He’s already told us through Trump’s Project 2025,” Swalwell said.
“And we saw this actually in his first term when he appointed three judges that he has in his palm and they took away a right that women have had for the last 50 years like that. It vanished and so, what else will be gone?” he continued.
Eric Swalwell highlights Joe Biden's accomplishments
His comments came after the Supreme Court ruled that core presidential powers are immune from criminal prosecution, a decision that benefits Trump and sends his federal case related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election back to a lower court, according to The Hill.
Swalwell also warned that if Trump wins reelection, other rights such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and gay marriage could be jeopardized.
“He’ll send his stormtroopers out to anyone who speaks dissent,” he said, adding “And if you do, you’ll disappear.”
Highlighting President Biden’s accomplishments, Swalwell advocated for Biden's reelection, noting his job growth numbers while in office.
He urged voters to keep Biden in the White House to prevent Trump from appointing more justices to the Supreme Court.
“There’s one person we cannot hire and that’s the bankrupt, racist felon who violently sent his friends to storm the office where he was last fired,” Swalwell stated, adding “That’s the way out, is to not let him put any more justices on the court.”
Swalwell, who was a manager in Trump’s second impeachment trial, called on voters to focus on preventing the potential future harm that could come from another Trump term.
“We have an opportunity to inoculate the next generation from Donald Trump and never talk about this guy in our lives again,” he said.
