LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent appearance on Fox News, Representative Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) redirected the conversation away from President Joe Biden's debate performance towards a pressing concern: the future under Donald Trump's leadership.

Host Mike Emanuel questioned Auchincloss about Biden's interview and its impact on Democratic strategies, but Auchincloss steered the dialogue toward what he views as the critical issue at hand - Donald Trump's aspirations for a second term.

Jake Auchincloss calls for vigilance against 'Project 2025' and urges Democratic Party unity

Auchincloss expressed alarm over Trump's alleged support for Project 2025, describing it as a contentious blueprint aimed at reshaping America along right-wing lines.

Produced by the conservative Heritage Foundation, Project 2025 calls for sacking thousands of civil servants, expanding the power of the president, dismantling the Department of Education and other federal agencies, and sweeping tax cuts. Trump, however, has dissociated himself from the document, claiming he knows "nothing about Project 2025”.

“I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal," he wrote.

"Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them."

However, doubts remain as several people linked to the project worked in Trump's administration or as allies in his re-election campaign.

"What is necessary is that we defeat Donald Trump in November," Auchincloss asserted. He outlined the project's objectives, including politicizing Social Security, imposing restrictions on abortion medication, eroding civil-military relations, and potentially consolidating power akin to a dictator.

"It's going to try to outlaw abortion medication. It's going to undermine civil-military relations, make the United States closer to a banana republic," said Auchincloss.

"And it's going to install him as a dictator who can use the Department of Justice as his personal law firm for retribution," he said of Trump.

"And my challenge to Republicans is, have the same painful and public conversation that Democrats are having right now."

Jake Auchincloss challenges Republicans to confront Trump's debate performance and agenda

The congressman from Massachusetts did not mince words, challenging Republicans to confront Trump about his agenda and the implications of his debate performance.

"You should be stressing to Donald Trump that he should step aside, because after that debate performance where he lied once every 90 seconds and, again, refused to honor election results, that last time around," Auchincloss said.

"But what about the Democratic concern about the President?" Emanuel asked, turning the discussion back to Biden.

"The President won the vast majority of delegates through free and fair elections, which we as a party respect, unlike Republicans," Auchincloss noted.

"We need to have thorough, methodical conversations at every level of the party."

He urged for comprehensive discussions at all levels to ensure clarity and alignment in the face of significant political challenges ahead.

"And again, the Republican Party is refusing to do that," he added, slamming the Republicans.

"They are a cult of personality that is not holding their party leader to account in any way whatsoever, even despite the fact that he is trying to overturn the core institutions of our democracy."
