LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: MSNBC host Rachel Maddow is "worried" former President Donald Trump might throw her in jail or perhaps into a camp for prominent liberals if he wins the upcoming election.

Maddow, whose show has been centered around harsh criticism of Trump for years, is well-known for having promoted now-disproved conspiracy theories linking the former president to Russia. She is now worried that if Trump defeats President Joe Biden in November, the presumed GOP nominee will use the government as a weapon and imprison his critics in the media.

What did Rachel Maddow say?

"I'm worried about the country broadly if we put someone in power who is openly avowing that he plans to build camps to hold millions of people, and to ‘root out’ what he’s described in subhuman terms as his ‘enemy from within.’ Again, history is helpful here. He’s not joking when he says this stuff, and we’ve seen what happens when people take power proclaiming that kind of agenda," Maddow told CNN, adding that Trump would also go after his political rivals.

"For that matter, what convinces you that these massive camps he’s planning are only for migrants?" Maddow continued, according to Fox News. "I’m worried about me — but only as much as I’m worried about all of us," she added.

A CNN reporter did not push back on this in the print Q&A and had set Maddow up to give an explosive answer by initially asking, "Trump and his allies are openly talking about weaponizing the government to seek revenge against critics in media… you're one of his most notable critics on television. Are you worried that you could be a target?"

Rachel Maddow shortened her show to once a week

In 2022, Maddow notably shortened 'The Rachel Maddow Show' to once a week to focus on other endeavors even though she was reportedly paid an impressive $30 million annually. Her CNN interview was intended to promote a podcast which was one of the other projects.

Rachel Maddow criticized her own network for airing Donald Trump's victory

Maddow called Trump's victory speech on Super Tuesday "irresponsible to broadcast" earlier this year, criticizing her own network for the broadcast. She was questioned about her position on whether live coverage of Trump by news networks is appropriate.

"I don’t think there’s any simple hard-and-fast rule that makes these decisions easy. You take things case by case, situation by situation, lie by lie. I do think it’s important to constantly revisit these decisions in a rigorous way, guarding in particular against letting ourselves be used for any purpose other than our own journalistic mission," Maddow told CNN.

Additionally, Maddow has voiced her worries saying that if Trump is reelected, he will turn into a despot.

Internet calls out Rachel Maddow, tells her that she isn't 'that significant'

Netizens criticized Maddow for her latest remarks on Trump. One user reminded her, "Rachel and AOC think, they are that important. Trump even don't remember their names. Lmao." Another tweeted, "Go play in same sandbox with AOC. you just arent that important." "Get over yourself, Rachel. You aren't that significant," another echoed the same.

"I can understand why she might feel that way. It's important to take care of ourselves during uncertain times." However, one stood by Maddow. "Camps...no, I doubt it. Jail or big fines...possibly maybe highly likely," one user opined. "Racial Madcow should only be worried if she did something she should worry about," said one user.
