MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: On May 20, a crowd of cowbell-ringing anti-Trump protesters heckled a group of MAGA supporters as they tried to speak outside a lower Manhattan courthouse. The supporters had gathered to show their loyalty to Donald Trump during his hush-money trial.

In what has become an all-too-familiar scene, many of the former President’s supporters descended on New York City to speak out against Trump’s prosecution and show their loyalty to the 2024 candidate.

In recent days, several potential VP candidates and members of the MAGA party have traveled to meet with Trump in an effort to curry favor with him and get around the judge's gag order.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, former NY police commissioner Bernie Keriik, former Trump administration official Kash Patel, Trump's senior adviser Jason Miller, and Rep Andrew Clyde (R-GA) joined the MAGA supporters outside the courthouse in solidarity with the ex-president who was impeached twice in office. They all wore Trump's signature navy suits and red ties, except for Patel.

Cohen is the prosecution's final witness in the trial and they are expected to rest their case this week. Supporters of the former president gathered to address the media and express their endorsement. However, they were met with a tumultuous response from demonstrators who heckled and jeered, branding them as "liars" and "traitors," as reported by the Daily Beast.

“I wanted this country to understand that prosecutors around the country are calling the sham trial exactly what it is: a sham trial,” Wilson said kicking off the presser.

He went on to say, “When I was the prosecutor in South Carolina, I was taught that a real prosecutor doesn't prosecute people. They prosecute conduct. What we're seeing today is the prosecution of a person because of who he is.”

Wilson was being heckled, and one protester was heard saying, "Go home you carpetbagging fools."

Another protester persistently blew a whistle and rang a cowbell while setting up camp behind the pro-Trump speakers, brandishing a large 'Bootlickers' sign. A protester reportedly received a citation from the police for "too much cowbell."

Trump backers referred to as 'red tie terrorists'

According to Patel, who is anticipated to assume a prominent position in the White House upon Trump's return, the former president was subjected to an “unconstitutional weaponization of justice.”

The crowd chanted, "Kash Patel, go to hell," making it hard to hear what he had to say. When Kerik spoke, demonstrators also specifically insulted him, calling him a "bald-headed bigot" during his remarks.

According to a correspondent for New York Magazine, the speakers were also referred to as "red-tie terrorists" by the anti-Trump mob for copying the former president.

She went on to say that Miller had even laughed at the demonstrators, claiming he had laughed at one of them when he inquired as to whether they had gotten their suits from "Dictators R Us."

Internet glad to see people stand up against 'rogue Republicans'

After the video went viral and internet users shared their reactions. One showed support to the hecklers saying, "Glad to see the people stand up against these rogue Republicans who are defying the spirit of the gag order! Democrats standing up for Law and Order."

Another user predicted the result of the upcoming Presidential election saying, "I don't think trump is winning New York lol."

The other person wrote, "Love the way that Trump says 'no public can get within three blocks' - as an excuse for zero supporters. BUT area is clearly totally open and teaming with anti-Trump protesters. Such a loser!"

A fourth commentator wrote, "I could have used a little more cowbell."

"Anyone play the bagpipes? That would drown them out," mentioned another person.

Social media users continued cheering for the hecklers, "I was hoping this would happen bring on the whistles!"
