WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden’s recent interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, heavily promoted by his campaign, has been described as lackluster by former Trump administration's Chief of Staff John Michael or Mick Mulvaney.

Mulvaney expressed his surprise at the hype, stating that the interview did little to alter public opinion.

Mulvaney also criticized the Biden campaign’s management of the post-debate fallout, suggesting that their efforts have compounded problems rather than resolving them.

Mick Mulvaney criticizes Joe Biden's post-debate interview, says 'I’m a little flabbergasted'

Mulvaney voiced his astonishment at the Biden campaign’s decision to heavily promote the president’s interview with ABC News.

“I’m a little flabbergasted the fact that the campaign hyped it as much as they did, and then delivered such a sort of a mediocre performance,” Mulvaney said in an interview with NewsNation.

Mulvaney criticized the characterization of the interview by the White House which described it as “energetic and eloquent.”

“Either they believe that in which case they have a problem, or they don’t believe that in which they have a problem," Mulvaney said, according to The Hill.

Mick Mulvaney says the debate was bad but the management was even worse

Mulvaney did not limit his criticism to the interview itself but extended it to the Biden campaign’s handling of the aftermath of the debate.

“The debate was bad but the management was even worse. It was a bad debate, but after that it was the staff that really have to step up and earn their money," he stated.

According to Mulvaney, the involvement of First Lady Jill Biden and the president's son, Hunter Biden, in assisting the president could create internal tensions.

"That can create all sorts of tension inside of White House when you’ve got a new group of people, whether or not their families coming in to sort of take over and clean up the mess from the previous team,” Mulvaney added.

Mick Mulvaney says Kamala Harris is the only viable option if Joe Biden steps down

When asked about potential candidates should Biden step down, Mulvaney indicated that Vice President Kamala Harris is the only viable option.

“If the President is not able to run, might there be other candidates for better than that. Maybe. But, we went through the primaries, the voters have spoken, and Democrat voters want Joe Biden to stop the ticket.”

"If that changes, Kamala Harris, my guess is, have to be the candidate or else to rip that party apart," he further asserted.

Mick Mulvaney rejects the need for cognitive tests for Joe Biden

Mulvaney also dismissed the significance of calls for Biden to take a cognitive test, suggesting that it is a concern limited to political insiders and the media.

“I don’t know if the voters back out in the countryside care about a cognitive test,” he said.

“They care about their president being able to do the job, and looking like he can do the job, acting like it can do the job. And right now, the impression amongst so many of those voters is that Joe Biden cannot do that. I don’t think cognitive test really answers the question," he said.

Internet slams Mick Mulvaney for saying Joe Biden's interview won't change anyone's mind

Internet reactions varied with some dismissing Mulvaney’s opinion and others agreeing with his assessment.

One user commented on X, "He’s right," while another wrote, "Also: 'Who the hell cares what 'Mike' Mulvaney thinks?' says 99% of America."

"Said the corrupt traitorous enabler of the evil orange one," one user wrote. Another added, "Mulvaney is an idiot."
