Internet mocks Joe Biden as he calls Donald Trump ‘loser’, likens himself to George Washington
VALLEY FORGE, PENNSYLVANIA: President Joe Biden launched his re-election campaign on Friday, January 5, by scoffing at the former President Donald Trump, calling him a "loser" and comparing his attempt at a political rebound to a "bad fairy tale."
This prompted his predecessor to respond, claiming that the 81-year-old incumbent posed a "true threat to democracy," per a report by the New York Post.
Speaking in the vicinity of Washington's 1777–1778 winter encampment at Valley Forge, outside of Philadelphia, Biden unleashed a torrent of criticism on the presumed Republican presidential nominee as well as his congressional allies, saying the latter group “abandoned democracy” after “we nearly lost America” during the January 6 riot in 2021.
President Biden’s speech at Valley Forge
Biden kicked off his official 2024 campaign speech by recalling George Washington’s establishment of the country, asserting that he called democracy a “great cause.” He then pointed out that the place they’re in, Valley Forge “tells the story of the pain and the suffering and the true patriotism it took to make America.”
Biden continued, “Today, we gather in a new year, some 246 years later, just one day before January 6 — a date forever seared in our memory because it was on that day that we nearly lost America, lost it all.”
With the support of an enthusiastic crowd, Biden relentlessly attacked Trump throughout the approximately 30-minute address, charging that his predecessor had purposefully used the brutality of the Capitol riot as a means of securing his own political future and remaining in power.
Biden even compared his opponent to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler on more than one occasion.
The incumbent president chastised his prospective opponent for opening a campaign rally last year in Waco, Texas, with a rendition of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ by a prison choir of January 6 rioters.

Biden said, “Trump’s assault on democracy isn’t just part of his past, it’s what he’s promising for the future. He’s being straightforward. He’s not hiding the ball.”
He added, “His first rally for the 2024 campaign opened with a choir of January 6 insurrectionists singing from prison on a cellphone while images of the January 6 riot played on the big screen behind him at his rally. Can you believe that? This was like something out of a fairy tale — a bad fairy tale.”
In an attempt to stave off an electoral catastrophe and galvanize his party ahead of 2024, Biden contended on Friday that his own campaign would uphold the foundational principles of the United States that Washington had created, including the peaceful transfer of responsibility of the US presidency after two terms.

“Let’s be clear about the 2020 election: Trump exhausted every legal avenue available to him to overturn the outcome — every one. But the legal path just took Trump back to the truth that I’d won the election and he was a loser,” Biden told the crowd amid cheers and applauses.
“Well, knowing how his mind works, he had one act left, one desperate act available to him: the violence of January the 6th,” Biden stated, “and since that day, more than 1,200 people have been charged for their assault on the Capitol, nearly 900 of them have been convicted or pled guilty.”
“Collectively to date, they have been sentenced to more than 840 years in prison,” Biden claimed to the cheering crowd.
Moreover, Biden also went on to state that in 2024, “Trump is running as the denier in chief, the election denier in chief. Once again he is saying he won't honor the results of the election if he loses.”
In the speech, Biden also asserted a “truth” that Trump “doesn't understand,” declaring, “You can't love your country only when you win,” garnering a round of applause from the audience.
Biden cautioned that Trump may usher in a period of dictatorship in the country and that other nations' leaders have told him that "he can't win" because "my country will be at risk."

The 81-year-old Democrat said, “He calls those who oppose him ‘vermin.’ He talks about the blood of Americans being poisoned, echoing the same exact language used in Nazi Germany.”
He continued, “He proudly posted on social media the words that best describe his 2024 campaign, ‘revenge,’ ‘power,’ ‘dictatorship.’ There’s no confusion about who Trump is and what he intends to do.”
“You can’t be pro-insurrectionist and pro-American,” Biden stated later in the speech, asserting that unlike Trump his own campaign “is about preserving and strengthening our American democracy.”
Referring to “the protection and preservation of American democracy” as “the central cause” of his presidency, Biden claimed that it “will remain.”

“As one Republican senator said, Trump’s behavior was embarrassing and humiliating for the country. Now that same senator and those same people have changed their tune,” Biden claimed.
He stated, “As time has gone on politics, fear, money all have intervened and now these MAGA voices who know the truth about Trump on January 6 abandoned the truth and abandoned democracy. They made their choice, now the rest of us — Democrats, independents, mainstream Republicans — have to make our choice.”
“I know mine and I believe I know America’s,” he concluded.
How did former President Donald Trump respond to President Biden’s scathing remarks?
Given that the term "loser" has a well-documented negative impact on image-conscious Trump, a former reality TV star and real estate tycoon, President Biden likely chose it on purpose to elicit a response from his political rival.
Donald Trump obliged at the opportunity and snarked back at the incumbent at a campaign rally in Sioux Center, Iowa, where he ridiculed Biden for “stuttering” and accusing him of “abusing George Washington’s legacy.”
The 77-year-old claimed, “Biden’s record is an unbroken streak of weakness, incompetence, corruption, and failure, other than that he’s doing quite well, isn’t he? That’s a hell of a hell of a list, right?”
He continued, “That’s why Crooked Joe is staging his pathetic, fear-mongering campaign event in Pennsylvania today. Did you see him? He was stuttering through the whole thing, he’s going, ‘He’s a threat to Democracy.’”
“They’ve weaponized government and he’s saying I’m a threat to democracy,” Trump said.
He claimed, “The only reason Biden is at Valley Forge abusing George Washington’s legacy…[is because] he knows he can’t show his face at the Southwest border, or in East Palestine, Ohio.”
Trump also called Biden “grossly incompetent” in his speech as he said, “Joe Biden is a threat to democracy. He's weaponizing law enforcement for a high-level election interference and I don't even know if it's him because I think he's grossly incompetent.”

Trump told Fox News that “because of his gross incompetence, Joe Biden is a true threat to democracy,” also calling him the “worst president in the history of our country.”
“This is not a time for us to have a mentally challenged president,” the GOP frontrunner said, adding, “The only insurrection is the insurrection that is taking place at our border where he is allowing millions of people from parts unknown to invade our country at a level far worse than even a military invasion.”
Internet trolls Joe Biden for likening himself to George Washington
People on X were quick to stop Biden in his tracks and inform him that he’s nowhere close to George Washington, as far as presidential stature was concerned.
