DES MOINES, IOWA: Former Iowa representative Steve King endorsed Vivek Ramaswamy, the Republican presidential contender, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Steve King represented Iowa’s 5th congressional district until 2013 and the state's 4th congressional district from 2013 to 2021.

Per a report from The Hill, King lost his House seat in the 2020 primary and was removed from committee duties after questioning why the labels "white supremacist" and "white nationalist" had become offensive.

While in office, King was frequently associated with white nationalism as a supporter of the conspiracy theory known as the 'Great Replacement' advanced by white supremacists.

This "extinction of the white race" theory is based on the idea that non-white immigrants will eventually displace White Europeans in their countries.

What did Ramaswamy say regarding Steve King’s endorsement?

At a Tuesday event in Iowa, Ramaswamy praised the endorsement and honored Steve King.

Ramaswamy said in a statement, “Steve King was America First before it was cool. He doesn’t back down from a fight and he certainly doesn’t bow to the Establishment.”

“We’ve found common cause on countless issues where other Republicans are too afraid to speak up, opposing the CO2 Pipelines here in Iowa, ending birthright citizenship, making English the national language, or shutting down the deep state,” the 38-year-old continued.

“I expect we’ll make Steve look prescient on Jan 15.”

The former Iowa congressman said Ramaswamy's victory on January 15 in the Iowa caucus is set to “shock the world".

King said in a statement, “If you want someone who is going to take on the deep state and speak truth to power, then vote for someone who is going to speak the truth to YOU.”

During the fourth GOP debate in New Hampshire last month, Ramaswamy himself brought up the 'Great Replacement' conspiracy on stage, asserting that it "is not some grand right-wing conspiracy theory, but a basic statement of the Democratic Party's platform."

Along with endorsing other conspiracies and fringe theories, the biotech entrepreneur has claimed that the 9/11 terror attacks and the nature of the Capitol protests on January 6, 2021, were indicative of an "inside job".

Polling conducted by The Hill/Decision Desk HQ indicates that Ramaswamy has had difficulty in Iowa, finishing fourth with almost 6% of the vote, in the Iowa average of surveys.

He is 45 points behind the front-runner, former President Donald Trump, and 11 points behind Nikki Haley, who’s in third place.

Internet mocks Ramaswamy as he celebrates Steve King's endorsement

People on X said it is ironic to see an Indian-origin GOP presidential contender singing praises of a white supremacist.

One X user wrote: "So he has ZERO instincts ....that's apparent....good to know."

Another user remarked: "Deeply ironic that an Indian person would be celebrating an endorsement from a white supremacist."

One user said: "King and Buchanan would never support someone named Vivek. He's sucking up to a crowd who will never want him."

One X user asked: "Does no one remember American first is America’s nazi party? Or do they and are proud?"

Another user remarked: "I haven't seen this level of comedic genius in a Presidential candidate since Pat Paulson."

Finally, this user tweeted: "Vivek is a bootleg salesman blowhard who yells to get attention. Nothing more. Nothing less. And he's bamboozling GOP party. And rightfully so, for how the party has become a place for charlatans and extreme grifters. It’s a bootleg party. Nothing more. Nothing less."
