NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Speaker Mike Johnson opened up about the impeachment proceedings of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during his appearance on 'Fox & Friends' on Tuesday, April 16.

Labelling him the "worst cabinet secretary" in US history, Johnson called for Mayorkas to be held accountable for his actions in office, and shared his take over the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) as well.

Mike Johnson calls Alejandro Mayorkas 'worst cabinet secretary'

Johnson shared a clip from 'Fox & Friends,' where he tells the co-hosts about the impeachment, "We did a long, methodical, deliberate process as the Constitution requires of us. We got that done, and now we are transmitting it to the Senate. We are demanding that Chuck Schumer have the full trial, that they hear the evidence. Let us put it on for the American people and then remove this individual from office."

"Desperate times call for desperate measures," he continues. "And Secretary Mayorkas is, in my view, the worst cabinet secretary that ever served in the history of the United States. It is a catastrophe that was committed by design. They allowed this. We all know the facts and the terrible tragedies that have come from it, and there has to be accountability."

Internet slams Speaker Mike Johnson over his remarks about Alejandro Mayorkas

The internet turned the table on Johnson while responding to his tweet, as they called for him to take accountability for his failures and resign, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"There has to be accountability, you should resign... You failed the American people," wrote a user.

"There has to be accountability for Mike Johnson's failures. He's caved to the Democrats on every issue. Motion to Vacate the Speaker!" echoed another.

"This impeachment trial of DHS Secretary Mayorkas is pointless. It’s just political theater. No Democrat in the Senate will vote to remove him. What Speaker Johnson should’ve done is shut down the government if Biden refused to secure the border. Johnson is a total failure," stated a third.

"You are worst Speaker that has ever served in the history of the United States," jibed a fourth user.

"Said the worst SPEAKER in history with not an ounce of irony," chided a fifth.
