NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Speaker Mike Johnson announced his proposal for the House to deliberate on four separate funding bills for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and national security, within the week on Monday, April 15.

The proposal comes at a time when Johnson is trying to quell a revolt within the House GOP that could put his leadership in peril, reported CBS News. Following a conference with them, Johnson told reporters, "We won't be voting on the Senate supplemental in its current form, but we will vote on each of these measures separately in four different pieces."

According to the New York Post, the Senate’s version that passed in February had allocated $60 billion for Ukraine.

“The underlying text will have some of our innovation in it with regard to accountability for funding and some of these other metrics,” shared Johnson, adding that "the overall concept is the same. It’s the same places that the funding would be sent."

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, the Speaker shared, "I have just spoken with the @HouseGOP conference on my plan to address national security supplemental legislation on the growing security crises."

He proceeded to list out the four bills, writing, "This week, we will consider separate bills with a structured and germane amendment process to: Fund our ally Israel; Support Ukraine in its war against Russian aggression; Strengthen our allies in the Indo-Pacific; Pass additional measures to counter our adversaries and strengthen our national security."

Internet reacts to Mike Johnson's tweet

The internet disapproved of the fact that Johnson did not expressly state the issue of border security, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"Anything to defend our borders? Or are we only defending other countries still?" inquired a user.

"No Mike, you’re not getting it. Stop funding wars we’re not involved in / Stop illegally surveilling on Americans / Stop the invasion at the US border / It’s not hard to understand," stated another.

"Stop sending our damn money outside of our country," jibed a third.

"So, basically ANYTHING except AMERICA FIRST. DISGRACEFUL," commented a fourth.

"All things you could have done already by signing the Senate’s aid bill. Waste of time." mentioned a fifth user.
