Internet says Chuck Schumer is having 'meltdown' after he condemns SC's immunity ruling for Donald Trump
WASHINGTON, DC: Shortly after the Supreme Court ruled Donald Trump has some immunity for the January 6, 2020 election subversion case, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer condemned the decision.
With the court granting a win to Trump, he is unlikely to face trial before the presidential elections in November.
Chuck Schumer says it is a 'sad day for America'
Both party leaders have weighed in on the decision with Schumer saying that the ruling is a "sad day for democracy" while the Republicans are hailing the decision.
"This is a sad day for America and a sad day for our democracy," Schumer posted on X.
"The very basis of our judicial system is that no one is above the law. Treason or incitement of an insurrection should not be considered a core constitutional power afforded to a president," he further wrote.

"This disgraceful decision by the MAGA SCOTUS—which is comprised of three justices appointed by Trump himself—enables the former President to weaken our democracy by breaking the law," he wrote in another X post.
"It undermines SCOTUS's credibility and suggests political influence trumps all in our courts today," he concluded.

House Majority leader Steve Scalise says Supreme Court concluded 'what we’ve known all along'
House Majority leader Steve Scalise praised the Supreme Court’s immunity decision in a statement on Monday, July 1.
“With today’s decision, the Supreme Court concluded what we’ve known all along: a president cannot be prosecuted for his official acts," he said, according to CNN.
"The weaponization of President Biden’s Department of Justice against President Trump is outrageous, unconstitutional, and must cease," he added.
"While it’s becoming increasingly clear Democrats believe their only path to victory in November is through prosecuting their political opponent, today’s decision makes it clear this is not allowed in our constitutional system,” Scalise said.
GOP Senator John Barrasso also hailed the Supreme Court’s decision as a “victory for democracy against Democrat lawlessness.” “The election will be decided at the ballot box, not in a courtroom,” Barrasso wrote on X.

Internet reacts to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's comments on immunity ruling for Donald Trump
The internet is abuzz with all sorts of reactions over the Supreme Court's ruling. However, users were mostly critical of Schumer reacting to his X posts.
"This is a deeply unserious characterization of the ruling," wrote one with one more commenting, "@SenSchumer, it's not ok to throw your political enemies in prison."
Some suggested that the ruling makes all sitting presidents immune from practicing official acts, however, they may see fit.
"Disband SCOTUS!" suggested one user on X. "Tell President Biden to expand the court since he can do whatever he wants," expressed another.
"Awww, Chucky is having a meltdown," criticized one Trump supporter. "Shameful supreme court but not surprising since they axed Roe vs wade," wrote one. "Your a disgrace Schumer, shame on you," added one more.
