WASHINGTON, DC: Republican Earl 'Buddy' Carter, representing Georgia, has called on President Joe Biden to take a cognitive assessment, citing concerns about his "fragile mental state."

Carter, a pharmacist, pointed to numerous instances of Biden's "declining mental acuity" as a basis for his request.

Joe Biden, the 81-year-old president, is reportedly said to be facing cognitive issues. The claims have been cemented as several videos show him getting frozen and escorted off from stage or venues.

"As a consultant pharmacist for several dades, I have treated patients in nursing homes and recognize the signs of cognitive decline," Carter wrote, Fox News reports.

"The patients I treated slowly experienced mental decline and forgetfulness," he added.

"This includes repeatedly forgetting names and confusing prior experiences with current events – the same behaviors that the American public and congressional lawmakers have witnessed from the President of the United States," he said.

Joe Biden is in a position that requires 'strong mental awareness'

Carter highlighted the importance of strong cognitive ability for the president, especially in handling domestic and international responsibilities.

"The President of the United States is a position which requires strong mental awareness to protect the interests of the American people," Carter wrote.

"Throughout recent domestic and international crises, Americans are rightly concerned that the President’s fragile mental state is creating a leadership vacuum in a position that demands utmost competence," he added.

Ronny Jackson joins calls for cognitive and drug tests

Ronny Jackson, who served as the White House physician and medical adviser, earlier stated on Sunday that he has repeatedly asked Biden to take a cognitive test.

Jackson also called for drug tests before and after any upcoming debates with former President Trump.

"The American people deserve to know that the President can perform the duties of Head of State and Commander-in-Chief, and they deserve full transparency on the mental capabilities of their highest elected leader," Carter wrote.

"That is why I encourage the President to perform a cognitive test immediately. I implore you to then publish the test results, so the American people know the full mental and intellectual health of their President," Carter's letter continued.

"The American people can no longer be left to wonder about their safety and security because of the President’s deteriorating mental state," he stated.
