WASHINGTON, DC: Republican lawmaker Dave Joyce, who backed the impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden in the GOP-led House of Representatives, admitted that he has not seen any credible evidence to support the accusations against the President so far.

In an interview with NewsNation's Dan Abrams, the Ohio Congressman said he has yet to see evidence of "high crime or misdemeanor" against Biden.

The representative, a former prosecutor, had no answer when asked about the specific crimes being investigated.

"Well, yeah, that's a good point. And I haven't seen any of that today, but I'm looking forward to the investigative committees. … I have three different committees that are all focused on this —OK, put up or shut up. You either have the evidence or you don't," Joyce replied despite voting to formalize Biden's impeachment inquiry.

The Republican-controlled House authorized the impeachment inquiry into the President on December 13 in a 221-212 vote.

Joyce claims impeachment an opportunity to gather information

Joyce claimed that the impeachment process aims to remove mentally unfit ones who commit crimes while in office.

"The process has been abused," Joyce said in the interview. "It's meant to take out mentally deficient folks, somebody who's lost their mind while they're in office, or somebody who's a [former Rep. George] Santos, like where they've committed in crimes while they're in office."

He added that the impeachment inquiry is an opportunity to gather information against the President.

"And you know, I don't see that yet, but the opportunity for the, for the, operative committees to gather the information and present it in an orderly fashion, so people can make rational decisions is what I base my decision on," Joyce continued.

The Republicans formalized the impeachment inquiry against the incumbent, accusing him of improper profits he and his family made during his vice presidency from 2009 to 2017 and his involvement in son Hunter Biden's business dealings. However, according to a CNN report, no substantial evidence has been submitted yet to back the allegations.

Internet slams Dave Joyce

The Ohio lawmaker is facing extreme backlash from social media users for voting to approve the impeachment inquiry without credible evidence.

One user labeled the lawmaker as a "Coward."

Another user said, "I just don't understand these people and why they find it so easy to put their morals, ethics and integrity in their pockets when the chips are down. Do they not understand what their legacy is going to be? They do it MOST deliberately which makes them all hypocrites."

"Rep. Dave Joyce (R-Ohio) is a former prosecutor too. This is shameful," remarked a third user.

A fourth user called him "Spineless."

"Way to go, Joyce voters. You shame your district," read another reaction.

One user added, "The face of a Coward!"
