NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former NFL star Antonio Brown, who is prone to stirring controversies, has sparked criticism online after making a series of unsavory comments about WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark.

After Clark was drafted by Indiana Fever, Brown made a series of abusive comments about the 22-year-old, which subsequently got him blocked by her.

Antonio Brown cracks poor jokes on Caitlin Clark

Among the series of comments, the former NFL All-Pro wide receiver’s one particular comment caused widespread uproar online for its offensive nature.

Just a few hours after Clark had an awkward encounter with Indy Star Sports reporter Gregg Doyel during her opening press conference, Brown started his verbal onslaught against the WNBA first pick.

In his first comment about Clark, Brown wrote, “Caitlin Clark looks like she keep it hairy.”

After the tweet went viral, the former wide receiver started receiving condemnation from several fans.

Brown, though not new to getting blocked by high-profile personalities, then saw himself getting blocked by the young athlete.

He shared a screenshot of being blocked on social media by Clark with the caption, “Cracker of the Day #CTESPN.” He used an ‘Addams Family’ reference when he said, “Blocked by Cousin It 💈.”

The ex-Pittsburgh Steeler athlete did not stop there as he took another dig at the Iowa star when he referred to her Nike deal with another poor joke.

Continuing with his “hairy” rant, Brown took a jab at her Nike deal while writing, “Nike Shoe prototype released”.

He said it could be followed by a “razor deal with ManScaped".

In another post, he shared a picture of Clark from the drafting ceremony while commenting, “She look like she bout to sign the Declaration of Independence.”

Despite getting blocked from Clark’s timeline, Brown was in no mood to stop as he proudly boasted about getting blocked by the likes of President Joe Biden and Tom Brady.

Internet lashes out at Antonio Brown

Social media users, however, were not receptive of Antonio Brown's poor jokes at Caitlin Clark's expense as they called out the 35-year-old former athlete across various platforms.

One user said, "How disgusting a 40-year-old man talking like that about a 20-year-old girl."

Someone else supported Clark's move of blocking him, saying, "I honestly think he deserved it."

Another Clark fan said, "I mean look at what Antonio tweeted, he deserves it."

"Seems Antonio Brown went from being a hall of fame talent to a certified gooner 😭😭," remarked a user.

Another person chimed in, "AB Quit on his team mid game and has not been hired since.,Now he just trolls people trending."

"Well, he deserved it. Next time he will keep it gentle and polite with another lady," said someone else.

Another user added, "In the world of sports, unexpected moments like this remind us of the power of social media interactions."

"Hes just saying anything and everything to stay relevant," admonished another.

Someone else remarked, "Their is quite a few problems with this dude."

"I would of blocked this dude too; he's mad disrespectful, and children look up to him...He's unprofessional, he keep on he won't have a career," said another user.

Journalist Gregg Doyel comments about Caitlin Clark

Brown’s tirade against Clark came just a few hours after Clark was subjected to a problematic comment by journalist Gregg Doyel.

During the press conference, Doyel - a reporter with Indy Star Sports - imitated the basketball phenom’s signature heart-hands gesture and said, “Start doing it to me and we'll get along just fine.”

After he received immense backlash online and Barstool Sports head Dave Portnoy called him a “sexist pervert”, Doyel apologized to Clark, per Daily Mail

Taking to his account on X, he wrote, "Today in my uniquely oafish way, while welcoming @CaitlinClark22 to Indy, I formed my hands into her signature . My comment afterward was clumsy and awkward. I sincerely apologize. Please know my heart (literally and figuratively) was well-intentioned. I will do better."
