'Idiotic push': Internet slams Joe Biden after POTUS reaffirms his stance on zero-emission automobiles in US

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden shared his plans for lowering pollution levels in the country caused by automobiles on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, March 20.

While he also pushed for the expansion of manufacturing plants in the United States, many netizens were skeptical of the outcome and voiced their disapproval of electronic vehicles (EVs) in general.

From the official X account of POTUS, Biden shared a campaign ad video in which he said, "Three years ago, I set an ambitious target - that half of all new cars and trucks sold in 2030 would be zero emission."



 

"I brought together America's automakers. I brought together American auto workers. Together we made historic progress. Hundreds of new expanded factories across the country. Hundreds of billions in private investment. And thousands of good paying union jobs," the President continued.

"And we'll meet my goal by 2030 and race forward in the years ahead," Biden said.

He wrote along with the clip, "Today, we're setting new pollution standards for cars and trucks. US workers will lead the world on autos, making clean cars and trucks, each stamped 'MADE IN AMERICA'. You have my word."

President Joe Biden faces backlash for his push toward EVs

Netizens did not share President Joe Biden's enthusiasm and equated "zero emissions" as a federal push for EVs.

"More restrictive regulations for the auto industry which will only cost Americans more jobs. Meanwhile, Biden continues to make it easy for illegals to enter the U.S. Shows where his priorities are," wrote a social media user.



 

"Americans don’t want EVs and you are going to lose Michigan and the presidency because of this idiotic push," stated another.



 

"Liar, you already ruined that!!!" jibed one person.



 

"This will cost Americans jobs. No one wants EVs. Will someone put Joe in a retirement home where he belongs," one individual commented.



 

"You always have these promises just before election period," quipped one user, while another tweeted, "Your word is worth as much as your dropping approval ratings!"



 



 

"Ford, Chevy and Dodge have a long way to go before they make a solid EV. I thought you said Mary Barra and GM were leading the way in EVs. Not even close and you know it. Tesla makes the most American vehicles you can buy and you still can’t say their name or give them credit. You don’t care about emissions at all you POS," one social media user said.
