He stated that if he didn't secure a second non-consecutive term and impose taxes on cars imported from overseas, there would "be a bloodbath for the country"

WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump clarified on Monday, March 18, that his statement regarding a potential "bloodbath" if he loses to President Biden in November was merely a reference to the threat he believes Biden poses to the US car sector, and not an incitement to violence from his supporters, as per New York Post.

Trump notably utilized Truth Social to defend his remarks made during a rally on Saturday, March 16, in Dayton, Ohio.

He stated that if he didn't secure a second non-consecutive term and impose taxes on cars imported from overseas, there would "be a bloodbath for the country."

Trump defends his 'bloodbath' comment

On Truth Social, Trump posted: "The Fake News Media, and their Democrat Partners in the destruction of our Nation, pretended to be shocked at my use of the word BLOODBATH, even though they fully understood that I was simply referring to imports allowed by Crooked Joe Biden, which are killing the automobile industry."

He added, "The United Auto Workers, but not their leadership, fully understand what I mean. With the Electric Car Mandate being pushed by Biden, there soon won’t be any cars made in the USA – UNLESS I’M ELECTED PRESIDENT, IN WHICH CASE AUTO MANUFACTURING WILL THRIVE LIKE NEVER BEFORE!!! MAGA2024."

Additionally, according to the Biden reelection campaign, the former president "wants another January 6," a reference to the events at the Capitol.

The campaign asserted that people "continue to reject his extremism, his affection for violence, and his thirst for revenge."

In a statement, spokesman James Singer asserted, "This is who Donald Trump is: a loser who loses by over 7 million votes and instead of appealing to a broader mainstream audience, doubles down on his threats of political violence."

Notably, Trump stated during the Rally, "We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars if I get elected. Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole — that’s going to be the least of it."

Internet takes jibe at Trump as he defends his 'bloodbath' statement

People on the internet trolled the former President as he defended his "bloodbath" statement claiming that he said it regarding the automobile sector in the country.

A user wrote on X, "He meant every word," while one added, "It’s true." Another person mentioned, "You guys he meant 'bubble bath' not 'bloodbath,'" while one mentioned, "He's a big fat liar."
