'Try to keep up gramps': Biden slammed as he backs Senator Bob Casey's Shrinkflation Prevention Act
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden took to X (formerly Twitter) to promote Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey's Shrinkflation Prevention Act on February 28.
Shrinkflation has reportedly been defined in the Act as a "tactic to hike prices and increase profits, occurs when a corporation reduces product size without lowering the price in a commensurate way. As a result, the unit price increases and the consumer ultimately spends more money for less product."
The Biden administration has highlighted the issue multiple times, most memorably during the Super Bowl commercial of February 11, when the President discussed the subject in an advertisement, citing the example of buying snacks.
According to the Senate Press Release, the Shrinkflation Prevention Act would "direct the FTC to promulgate regulations to establish shrinkflation as an unfair or deceptive act or practice, prohibiting manufacturers from engaging in the practice; authorize the FTC to pursue civil actions against corporations that engage in shrinkflation; and authorize state attorneys general to bring civil actions against corporations engaging in shrinkflation."

From the official X account of POTUS, Biden retweeted Sen Bob Casey's post that read, "Pennsylvania families are sick of paying higher prices for smaller products while corporate CEOs brag about record profits. Today I'm introducing the Shrinkflation Prevention Act to crack down on shrinkflation and hold corporations accountable."
"Senator Casey sees across Pennsylvania what I’ve seen across America," Biden wrote in his post.
"Hardworking folks are tired of getting charged more for less. I’m glad that Senator Casey introduced the Shrinkflation Prevention Act – it’s time we held these corporations accountable," the President added.

Internet slams President Joe Biden's tweet about Shrinkflation Prevention Act
Netizens were quick to blame Biden and his economic policies as the root cause of inflation, as the following tweets demonstrate.
"Joe Biden is once again blaming companies when it’s his poor policies which have created record high inflation during his entire administration," wrote a user, before adding, "Remember when Biden campaigned saying he’d take responsibility for his failures and not blame others? He lied."

Remember when Biden campaigned saying he’d take responsibility for his failures and not blame others?
He lied.
"LOL Joe. So, instead of resizing packaging, they'll just raise prices instead? Yeah, your policies caused inflation, not 'greed'. Did these 'evil corporations' become greedy only when your economic policies took effect? You know, 'Bidenomics'?" another user asked.

"We are getting charged more because of your inflation," one wrote while blaming Biden for the current situation.
"Getting charged more for less? Uhh... that's just called Bidenomics. You wouldn't remember, because it was last week, but you were quite proud of it. Let's try to keep up gramps," said another user.
