WASHINGTON, DC: During her town hall on Sunday, February 18, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley attacked Donald Trump, her main rival, for his alleged ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Fox News invited audience questions during Haley's town hall. Attendees brought up Trump's treatment of Putin and asked Haley how she would deal with international adversaries.

Nikki Haley says Donald Trump gets 'weak in the knees with Putin'

"He was completely wrong because every time he was in the same room with him [Putin], he got weak in the knees. We can’t have a president who gets weak in the knees with Putin. We have to have a president that’s going to be strong with Putin in every sense of the word," Haley said about Trump.

Only a few days ago, the former UN ambassador had criticized Trump for his silence about the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. According to Haley, the inexplicable death was caused by Putin, "the same Putin who Donald Trump praises and defends."

Even though Haley and Trump had different opinions on the Russian president, she persisted in her pledge to pardon Trump if he was found guilty of federal offenses. But when someone else in the audience brought out the difference between her and Trump, she vowed she would not be withdrawing from the race.

While repeating a slogan Haley said on the campaign trail before, she said, "We don't anoint kings in this country; we let the people vote."

The remaining two Republican contenders for the presidency in 2024 are Trump and Haley. The majority of the previous contenders, including Sen Tim Scott, Gov Ron DeSantis, and Vivek Ramaswamy, have endorsed Trump.

Internet slams Nikki Haley for attack on Trump

Several Trump supporters on the Internet took jibes at Nikki Haley for her statement about the former president. A user wrote on social media platform X, "She’s dropping out by next weekend," while another commented, "The Haley campaign also paid for a mobile billboard to troll the former president around the Myrtle Beach area, including near his event in Conway."

Another user wrote, "War Hawks for Haley. Trump exuded strength better than most, he just did not sign up for the neoconservative agenda that Nikki Haley promotes," whereas one added, "Wow... she's really flushing herself down the toilet out there. No one is taking her song and dance seriously."

A user mentioned, "If @NikkiHaley is your standard bearer, then you are a shill for globalism and the reason the US government bent toward socialism. Thank you for making it know to the world." Someone else added, "But she refuses to say whether she will or will not vote for Trump if he’s the Republican candidate for President."
