LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Nevada State Senator Pat Spearman drew a stark comparison between former President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, warning of dire consequences if Trump were to return to the White House.

Speaking at a rally for the Biden-Harris campaign, Spearman didn’t hold back, declaring, “If Donald Trump becomes president, everything that we have in the bank goes away because he’d be a dictator. Don’t believe me, look at Russia.”

Sen Pat Spearman warns of regression to pre-1954 civil rights standards

Pat Spearman, who served 29 years in the US Army Military Police, expressed her deep concerns about the erosion of democratic principles, saying, “I’m always worried when a dictator is on the ballot. Let me be clear: I’m always worried when people are still trying to take back the rights that we have fought for.”

She emphasized the threat of regression to pre-1954 civil rights standards, referencing the landmark Supreme Court decision to “separate but equal” down segregated school systems. When pressed on her assertion, “Are you saying Donald Trump is the equivalent of Putin?” Spearman unequivocally stated, “Yes, yeah. Yes," reported New York Post.

Pat Spearman rallies veterans at Biden-Harris campaign launch

The event, held at the local Biden-Harris campaign headquarters, was the launch of “Veterans and Military Families for Biden-Harris,” aimed at mobilizing military voters to support the Democratic ticket.

“Project 2025 scares the hell out of me,” Spearman claimed, “because it goes against Project 1776. As far as everything we have fought for, everything that we died for.” She assured the audience that such initiatives would not succeed on her watch.

Spearman, joined by a group of military veterans, underscored the significance of veteran support in Nevada, saying, “He has our back and we’re gonna have his back this November. We’re going to knock on doors, make phone calls, talk to our neighbors, and most importantly, vote. We’re going to focus on the sacrifice of millions of Americans that preceded us is not in vain.”

Spearman also voiced her alarm over Project 2025, which she believes contradicts the values of Project 1776. Entrepreneur and Air Force veteran Shaundell Newsome echoed her sentiments, criticizing Trump’s perceived disregard for the military and praising President Joe Biden’s empathy as a military father.

“You know, Joe Biden is a military father, so he understands what we’re going through,” he added. The President “can empathize with us. He is not calling us suckers and everything else that the former president had put out there.”

Netizens erupt over senator's Trump-Putin comparison

Another said, "Every Democrat accusation is really a confession."

A user claimed, "Russia, Russia, Russia. So Democrats are trying a new slant on an old saw? I have traveled the world and Trump is NOTHING like Putin or Russia."

"Democrat scare tactics," read a tweet.

"News Alert...the Trump Russian card is like the race card...overplayed. Next...," penned an individual.
