WASHINGTON DC: President Joe Biden recently made the surprising assertion that he has known Vladimir Putin for "over 40 years," despite the fact that Putin was a KGB agent four decades ago.

This remark came during President Biden's visit to the Normandy American Cemetery in France, where he was commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Joe Biden claims Vladimir Putin is 'not a decent man'

The 81-year-old president took a moment for an interview with ABC News at the cemetery. During the interview, he spoke about Putin and the ongoing Russian invasion and conflict in Ukraine.

However, the interview raised eyebrows when President Biden claimed to have "known" the Russian leader for "over 40 years."

“I've known him for over 40 years. He's concerned me for 40 years,” Biden told ABC News.

“He's not a decent man. He's a dictator and he's struggling to make sure he holds his country together while still keeping his assault going," President Biden added.

RadarOnline.com has pointed out the ambiguity in President Biden's claim of knowing Putin for "over 40 years," given that Putin entered Russian politics in 1990.

Putin was a KGB agent from 1975 until the early stages of the Soviet Union's dissolution in 1989. In 1990, he transitioned to an advisory role on international affairs in St Petersburg, and by 1999, he had become prime minister.

RadarOnline.com has highlighted that Biden's recent assertion of a four-decade acquaintance with Putin is the latest in a series of gaffes by the president.

Other wrong statements made by Joe Biden

Last month, President Biden mistakenly stated that Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an American and Israeli citizen, was in attendance at a White House event. In reality, Goldberg-Polin is currently a hostage held by Hamas in Gaza.

“My administration is working around the clock to free the remaining hostages, just as we have freed hostages already,” Biden said last month. “And here with us today is Hersh Goldberg-Polin.”

“And still he is not here with us, but he's still being held by Hamas,” Biden subsequently corrected himself while the parents of Goldberg-Polin were present in the White House audience.

In the previous month, Biden made a significant error by stating that he was vice president during the early 2020 outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States and globally.

He also asserted that President Barack Obama, who concluded his term in January 2017, sent him to Detroit, Michigan, to address the COVID-19 situation.

“And when I was vice president, things were kind of bad during the pandemic. And, what happened was Barack said to me: Go to Detroit – and help fix it,” Biden said in May.

Internet mocks Joe Biden for claiming that he has known Putin for 40 years

As soon as the video of Biden's recent statement about Putin went viral on social media, users started reacting to it.

A user mocked saying, "Lol still can't believe this dude is president can bare string a sentence together." [sic]

Another user added, "He's confusing 40 beheaded babies. Number stuck in his head."

A commentator claimed that Biden is experiencing or relating to a partial or total loss of memory by saying, "Amnesic guy."

Conversely, some users agreed with Biden's statement, considering it might be accurate. One wrote, "He was head of the intelligence service the KGB.. So yes, they def met in the 80s." [Sic]

"He was KGB chief in Dresden 40 years ago. It's possible that then-senator Biden knew of Putin back then. Or perhaps he misspoke and meant to say 20 years," another user commented.
