WASHINGTON, DC: A video of Donald Trump discussing his plan to modify immigration checks if he wins a second term in office has gone viral.

In the clip, former POTUS stresses that the new process would involve a "strong ideological screening" of all immigrants who wish to enter the US, making netizens sound the alarm for their freedom being curtailed.

The video shared by the Republicans Against Trump account on X (formerly Twitter) is from one of his reelection campaign rallies in New Hampshire.

However, Trump had made the same call at a rally in Iowa back in October 2023, as reported by the Daily Beast. The ex-POTUS even promised to revive his travel bans and 2017 immigration policy.

Similarly, a TIME article, published on April 30, claims Trump intends to be more aggressive with immigration policies in his second term, arranging a massive deportation operation targeting millions.

In the clip, Trump, who is currently undergoing criminal trial in the hush money case in New York, states, "I will implement strong ideological screening of all immigrants."

He added, "If you hate America, if you want to abolish Israel, if you don't like our religion - which a lot of them don't, if you sympathize with the jihadists, then we don't want you in our country and you are not getting in, Alright?"

The account posting the video highlighted Trump's take on religion, and asked in the caption, "What’s 'Our religion'?"

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's claims regarding immigration policy

One wrote, "Unconstitutional. Great way to turn off more voters," and another said, "If this doesn’t scare you nothing will."

A person expressed, "HIS religion is white Christian nationalism. He doesn’t want anyone but white people living in his Utopia. People need to wake up. He’s showing you EXACTLY who he is and what he really believes," while someone else added, "I mean that’s just full fascism."

"This is a Muslim ban all over again. They are trying to disguise it," opined an individual. One more shared, "Trump’s religion is Donald Trump."

Quipping about his comment on religion, another person wrote, "MAGAism."

"Love of money. That seems to be the national relgion sometimes. lol. (sort of). Sidenote: 'screening' people based on their faith is highly unconstitutional. Just thought I'd point that out for those who missed it." pointed out a netizen.
