TRENTON, NEW JERSEY: Former New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie (R), has expressed his concerns regarding a second term for former President Donald Trump, stating that it could potentially create a “huge personnel problem” in the White House.

In an interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos, Christie said, "One, it'll be a huge personnel problem of people who have no business being in senior positions in the federal government. And then secondly, I think we have to take him at his word."

Christie further remarked, "This is gonna be the vendetta presidency."

The interview was part of the release of Christie's third book, ‘What Would Reagan Do?’ which was set to air on ABC News and ‘Good Morning America’ on Tuesday, February 6, per a report by The Hill.

What did the former New Jersey governor say in the interview?

During the ABC News interview, Christie acknowledged that his previous support for former President Donald Trump was a "mistake."

Although he has not yet endorsed any Republican candidate after suspending his own bid for the White House in January, Christie has been a vocal critic of Trump since his entry into the GOP presidential race last June.

In contrast, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, now the only major challenger to Trump in the primaries, recently stated that she did not want or need Christie’s endorsement.

Christie, who also ran for the Republican nomination in 2016, headed Trump's transition team before he took office in 2017.

He revealed in the interview that Trump did not anticipate winning the election and was intimidated by the presidency, resulting in him bringing in experienced personnel to his administration.

Christie noted that these personnel were reliable, experienced individuals in government, regardless of whether their policies were agreeable or not.

“Whether you agree with their policies, these are really solid, experienced people in government,” he said in the interview, however, Christie predicted that a second Trump administration would result in "mayhem, absolute mayhem."

The former Republican governor expressed concern about the composition of the team that Trump would assemble, adding, “I cannot imagine the crew that he’ll put together.”

The 77-year-old former United States President remains the clear front-runner in his bid to secure the third consecutive presidential nomination from the Republican Party, with a significant lead in the polls, and the looming possibility of a rematch between him and President Joe Biden in November, this year.

Christie openly acknowledged that his 2024 presidential nomination campaign was motivated by preventing a second Trump term.

Trump has also frequently criticized Christie throughout the course of his presidential campaign trail, sometimes even poking fun at his weight.

Finally, this user tweeted: "Christie continues to sound like a disgruntled employee when voicing his opinion regarding Trump and loses all credibility. It seems he has a vendetta. I wished he’d move on."
