CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE: Nikki Haley, the Republican presidential primary candidate, recently conveyed her reluctance to receive endorsement from her former rival, Chris Christie, according to a report by The Hill.

In an interview that aired on Friday, January 19, on NewsNation's ‘On Balance with Leland Vittert,’ Haley was posed with a question regarding her willingness to accept Christie's endorsement, to which she responded in the negative.

What did Nikki Haley reveal in her NewsNation interview on Friday?

NewsNation host Leland Vittert asked Haley, “You guys talked to Chris Christie lately?”

The former South Carolina governor responded, “I talked to him after he got out of the race.”

“Would you want his endorsement?” Vittert asked.

“No,” Haley replied modestly.

“No? Why not?” the NewsNation host pressed Haley on the matter.

Haley promptly replied, “I don't need it.”

“The voters?” Vittert enquired.

Haley explained her stance on the former New Jersey governor, “I mean the endorsements I want are the people in this Diner. I mean that's always been the case. I always want, and you see I haven't gone after a ton of legislative endorsements and those types of endorsements because, at the end of the day you don't want all of those politician’s endorsements. That's part of the problem.”

The former UN ambassador continued, “You actually want people who move the ball. I wanted Chris's (Sununu) because I knew he's as close to the people – they love him! He's got a relationship with them.”

Chris Christie withdrew from the Republican presidential primary race just over a week ago, shortly before the Iowa caucuses, during a town hall event held in Windham, New Hampshire.

But his backing away wasn’t without its fair share of controversy as Christie was recorded on a hot mic claiming that Haley is "gonna get smoked" in her presidential bid against her former boss, Donald Trump.

“I mean look, she’s spent like $68 million so far, just on TV — spent $68 million so far — $59 million by DeSantis, and we spent $12 (million). I mean, who’s punching above their weight and who’s getting a return on their investment, you know?” Christie was caught saying before his announcement to drop out of the GOP presidential race.

Referring to Nikki Haley’s campaign, Christie opined, “And she’s gonna get smoked. And you and I both know it. She’s not up to this.”

Trump praised Christie's inopportune statements in a social media post, calling them a "very truthful statement."

Internet cautioned Nikki Haley as she refused Chris Christie’s endorsement on Friday

People on X advised her to keep her allies close and her adversaries even closer as the New Hampshire primary draws near and she’s going to need all the help she could get if she were to outperform the MAGA strongman in Donald Trump, who remains the overwhelming favorite for GOP voters.

One X user remarked: "@NikkiHaley like you didn't need and accept @SarahPalinUSA. You are not, nor will you be able claim self made. Be gracious, make friends, not enemies."

Another user said: "GOP is a total mess, when a soon to be convicted felon, that has also been found liable for sexual assault and has a summary judgement of business fraud, is the leading candidate for President that tells you all you need to know about the other candidates and the GOP voters"

Another user quipped: "Why the need for an endorsement for a campaign that wont last that much longer?"

One X user remarked: "Super confident"

Another user tweeted: "Smartest thing she's ever said"
