Internet unimpressed by dad's video of flight attendant feeding his 'entitled' 5-year-old son
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A simple act of onboard hospitality has unexpectedly ignited turbulence this week.
A video posted by American entrepreneur Michael Rutherford depicting a Singapore Airlines flight attendant spoon-feeding his 5-year-old son during a business class flight has taken the internet by storm.
While the airline has remained quiet, the court of public opinion has rendered an emphatic judgment against Rutherford’s parenting, as reported by New York Post.

Singapore Airlines flight attendant's video spoon feeding 5-year-old goes viral
The video, which depicts the flight attendant crouching down in business class and feeding the young boy a meal, has garnered over 400,000 likes on Instagram, as well as a significant amount of criticism.
Rutherford, a Las Vegas resident who runs several internet-based businesses, told media outlets the video was taken during a Singapore Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo on December 4. He was traveling for business in the airline’s business class cabin along with a friend, his daughter, and his 5-year-old son.
In the post's caption, Rutherford raved about the airline’s service, stating, “We’re having the greatest flight ever and this just made it even more perfect.” He went on to describe the flight attendant’s actions as “amazing!!!”
However, many social media commenters did not share Rutherford’s enthusiasm. While some praised the flight attendant for going above and beyond, many others admonished Rutherford for allowing the staff to feed his fully capable son.
Internet reacts strongly to flight attendant spoon feeding fully capable child
The controversial video has inspired strong reactions from across the internet. “Those flight attendants are amazing,” wrote one Instagram user. “His parent should be feeding him, the flight attendant has enough work to do.”
This sentiment was echoed by many others. “Flight attendants are not babysitters,” stated one comment.
“They are there for the safety of the passengers.” “Seriously great service,” conceded another user, “but parents need to parent. I feel sorry for the cabin crew having to feed a kid who can’t survive with a screen.”
Some reactions were more severe. “Amazes me how entitled lots of people think they are just because of the money they have,” one person declared.
“I don’t care who you are. That’s disgraceful that your kid needs to be spoon fed by others,” scolded one commenter. “That kid will grow up thinking that the world revolves around him.”
