Investigators seize vehicle, remove rooftop device as search for Nancy Guthrie intensifies
TUCSON, ARIZONA: Authorities investigating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie intensified their search on Friday, February 6, after towing a vehicle from her Arizona home and removing a wired device from the roof following a tip from a neighbor.
The developments came as law enforcement continued a large-scale operation around Nancy Guthrie’s residence north of Tucson, where the 84-year-old is believed to have been taken against her will days earlier.
Earlier on Friday, FBI agents were seen inside the home’s garage, where a blue SUV was parked, before investigators towed the vehicle from the property.

SUV towed from the garage under police escort
Law enforcement activity intensified at Guthrie’s home in the Catalina Foothills late Friday afternoon, with more than 10 police vehicles converging on the property.
Officers searched the residence as part of the ongoing effort to locate Guthrie, whose disappearance has drawn national attention due to her daughter Savannah Guthrie’s role as a 'Today' show anchor.
During the search, investigators called in a tow truck to remove a blue Subaru SUV that had been parked inside Guthrie’s garage.

The vehicle, believed to belong to Guthrie, was taken under police escort to an impound lot near the Pima County Sheriff’s Office, according to Fox News.
Authorities have not said why the SUV was seized or whether it contains evidence tied directly to Guthrie’s disappearance.
The removal of a wired device from roof followed a tip by the neighbour who noticed something unusual about the condition of the roof compared to others in the area.
Guthrie’s neighbor, Laura Gargano, said she alerted authorities after observing that the roof appeared unusually clean in aerial footage.
“I did notice on an aerial shot that it looked like her roof had been recoated recently,” Gargano said.
She explained why that raised concerns, adding, “When you recoat your roof it gets dirty pretty quickly and we’ve had lot of rains the previous three weeks, so it would be normal for a roof to be a little dirty.”
Her observation ultimately led investigators to take a closer look at the rooftop area.
Family pleas continue as questions remain unanswered
As investigators pursue new leads, Guthrie’s daughter Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have continued publicly appeal for their mother's safe return.
Authorities have not explained how the towed vehicle or the recovered rooftop device fits into the broader investigation, leaving critical questions unanswered.
Law enforcement has emphasized that the search remains active, with all evidence under close examination as investigators work to determine what happened to Nancy Guthrie.
