NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird joined co-host Rachel Campos to defend a new state law for immigrants, as well as call out the Biden administration for failing to secure the southern border on the Sunday, May 5 episode of 'Fox & Friends.'

Campos began the segment by sharing that the federal administration has been threatening to sue the state of Iowa over a new law that allows it to arrest and deport illegal immigrants in the state.

"Iowa law makes it a crime for somebody who has been deported before to be here in Iowa illegally, and allows our state and local authorities to enforce that law," explained Bird.

Brenna Bird slams Biden administration

"We have sued the federal government multiple times over Biden's failure to enforce our laws and constitution," Bird told Campos.

"But here the federal government is threatening to sue Iowa for doing the job that the federal government won't do: securing the border."

"If that administration spent half that energy in actually securing the border as they do suing those of us that are upholding the law, we would be in a much better situation," she continued, later adding that they "won't back down" and continue "to defend our law even if the federal government is going to sue us."

Problems faced by Iowans because of illegal immigration

When asked about the primary causes of concern for the people of Iowa regarding illegal immigration, the state AG shared, "We are not a border state - we are a long way from the border. But now, every state is a border state with the border so out of control."

"Iowa is being impacted by human trafficking, crime, all the illegal drugs and cartels operating freely on both sides of the border. And we are worried about the suspected terrorists who are intercepted at the southern border where all are a lot less safe, and Biden is doing nothing to uphold his constitutional responsibility to secure our border."

"We remember what it was like when we had a secure border with President Trump, and we want that back," she added.
