WASHINGTON: Donald Trump, the former president, announced on social media on Sunday, December 10, that he will not be testifying in his civil fraud trial in New York on Monday, December 11.

Trump was questioned by the New York attorney general's office last month, and it was anticipated that he would appear in court again on December 11 to provide testimony in an attempt to support his defense against charges that he artificially inflated the value of his properties.

In a long letter posted on Truth Social, the former president continued to criticize the attorney general's case against him and the judge presiding over it, saying that he “WILL NOT BE TESTIFYING ON MONDAY."

Although Trump had already given one testimony during the trial, his attendance on Monday would have allowed him to refute the attorney general's accusations against him and discuss his company and properties in-depth while being questioned by his attorneys.

The Democratic attorney general's complaint is personal to Trump, the front-runner for the GOP presidential candidacy in 2024, even if it does not include criminal charges since it directly targets his brand.

The trial is scheduled to end this week following 11 weeks of testimony, at which point the last-minute reversal occurs. It won't be decided until the beginning of next year.

Trump's financial statements for the previous ten years were deemed to be dishonest by the judge.

He will make the decisions about Trump's payment amount and the state's ability for him and his two adult sons to do business.

Another person wrote, "Trump says he will not testify at his civil fraud trial" while one added, "Better (for him) if he doesn’t. I assume his lawyer told him not to. Pity though, since he could’ve only make things worse."

A user also wrote, "Let there be transparency" whereas one added, "Scared to debate and scared to testify under oath about his super awesome and totally not the chronically fraudulent business dealings of the company he inherited from his dad."
