WASHINGTON, DC: Lara Trump, former President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law and newly elected co-chair of the Republican National Committee, asked the poorest supporters to save money to donate if they cannot afford it right now, HuffPost reported.

Trump, the wife of the GOP presumptive nominee's third born Eric Trump, took over the RNC leadership in March along with Micahel Whatley as her father-in-law is cementing his control over the committee ahead of the November election.

Lara Trump asks to save up $5

"If you can't afford a donation today, I ask that you would save it for a later date," Lara delivered her plea in a recent video posted on X by PatriotTakes, which monitors right-wing extremism.

"But if you could donate even as much as $5, it will go a long way," she added.

The new RNC co-chair's plea came as the former president's presidential campaign fund continues to trail behind his Democratic opponent, President Joe Biden.

At the end of March, Republicans raised over $65.6 million, ending the $93.1 million cash on hand. On the other hand, Biden's campaign raised $128 million so far in the election cycle from large and small contributions, as per a late March report by Reuters.

The wide disparity in the fundraising between the major party candidates at the end of February led the Biden campaign to mock their GOP opponent as "Broke Don."

Also, ex-president Trump is attempting to shatter the incumbent's $26 million record New York fundraiser, which he did with former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. In response, the real estate mogul will be conducting a top dollar fundraising at Palm Beach in Florida on Saturday, April 6, where he is expected to haul more than $40 million, according to Fox News.

Internet blasts Lara Trump

Netizens lashed out at Lara as well as the billionaire Trump family for mooching off the poor supporters.

One user wrote, "Yes the Art of the Mooch," and another person remarked, "Another Trump with a high threshold for self degradation."

A third user added, "I’ve never seen a “billionaire” family beg for money so much. They literally grift from their golden toilets." An individual fumed, "What? You want the coins inside the couch cushions? Pathetic. This whole family needs to be punished."

Someone else said, "She has a net worth of about 10 Million. Her husband has a reported net worth of about 300 Million. But other people should "save up" to send the RNC $5.00."

"Lara Trump literally tells Trump's lower-income supporters to scrape up the money (hey, it's just little Johnny's lunch money!) to donate to self-proclaimed billionaire Trump. Pathetic," said an outraged user.

"That's right, Lara, encourage people who don't have money for food to save up so they can give it to a fake billionaire to pay his legal bills. You people are an embarrassment," one chimed in.

A response read, "They will grift literally the last few bucks from their supporters. It’s desperate and pathetic," and another added, "Grifting is this family profession for life."

"The Trumps comprise generations of grifters. No shame. No integrity. Nothing but a willingness to take your saved up $5 for their own greed and enrichment. Despicable, repulsive people—each and every one of them," someone wrote.

One furious remark read, "When you’ve already burned through all the stolen puppy shelter coins and need a new grift." Another wrote, "How much are you giving Lara? You're worth a pretty penny. If you believe so much, start transferring your personal cash to your father-in-law. I hear crickets."
