Ivanka Trump’s daughter Arabella, 15, greets Xi Jinping in Mandarin with three-word welcome

WASHINGTON, DC: Arabella Kushner, the 15-year-old daughter of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, had a special moment with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his White House visit. On Thursday, September 24, she greeted Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, in Mandarin, saying, “Welcome to America.”

The greeting brought attention to Arabella’s long-standing connection with the Chinese language. She has studied Mandarin since she was three and previously caught Xi’s attention with videos of herself singing in the language during Donald Trump’s first term.

Arabella greeted Xi and Peng during the White House arrival ceremony, using their native tongue to welcome them to the United States.

The exchange also gave the Chinese couple a chance to see how much she had grown since their last meeting. Xi and Peng reportedly expressed their delight at seeing Arabella again, saying they could not believe how big she had gotten.

The last time they saw her in person, she was just six years old.

Arabella, the eldest child of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, later attended the state dinner in the White House East Room.

She wore a black, floor-length ball gown, with her hair styled up for the evening. She sat between her mother and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, sharing a table with other members of the high court.

Ivanka wore a light blue, crystal-encrusted Georges Hobeika corset gown for the dinner.

Arabella Kushner’s childhood connection with Xi Jinping

Arabella’s latest meeting with Xi recalled an earlier moment from Donald Trump’s first term.

During a 2017 visit to Beijing, Trump showed the Chinese president a video of his young granddaughter wearing a traditional Chinese-style dress and singing in Mandarin

Xi praised the performance, giving it an “A+” and calling Arabella a “child star.”

The video helped introduce her to audiences in China, where clips of her singing shared by Ivanka went viral.

In another video message to Xi, Arabella began by saying in Mandarin, “Hello everyone, let me sing a song.”

She then performed a traditional Chinese folk song about the country’s beautiful landscapes.

Arabella and Ivanka also attended Thursday’s formal welcoming ceremony for Xi and Peng, where they had front-row seats.

Arabella wore a white belted midi dress by Self-Portrait, while Ivanka chose a robin’s egg blue dress by Chinese designer Guo Pei.

Arabella sat beside Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the ceremony.

The mother-daughter duo later attended the military review, where they stood alongside members of President Trump’s Cabinet.

Arabella lives in Florida with her parents and younger siblings, Joseph and Theodore.

Her appearance at the state dinner marked her debut at the formal event, while her greeting to Xi added a personal moment to the Chinese president’s White House visit.
