After an extensive investigation into allegations of parental abuse that commenced on January 7, 2024, authorities responded to a 911 call concerning an unresponsive 6-year-old at a residence located in the 1300 block of Sheridan Avenue in the Brownsville Borough of Fayette County.

Upon arrival, they were greeted by Weight, who purportedly refused entry into the home and instead brought the 6-year-old victim outside. She was promptly transported to Uniontown Hospital, where doctors reportedly recorded her body temperature at 88.7 degrees.

A news release stated that troopers, upon arrival, observed the residence in deplorable condition, with dog feces, trash, and urine scattered around the house.

Following interviews with all the children residing in the home, it was revealed that the six-year-old child had been confined in a dog crate, bound with zip ties, and subjected to beatings "with a broom on multiple occasions."

Additionally, the suspects were found to have committed various other criminal acts against the child.

What is the condition of 'tortured' 6-year-old?

According to a subsequent hospital report cited by the Herald-Standard, the 6-year-old victim was described as being "severely hypothermic" upon arrival at the facility.

Additionally, many of the child's teeth were observed to be cracked and decayed.

What did the Attorney explain?

According to Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele, the 6-year-old child was left naked and without food in a cage.

He stated, "She would be punished if she was able to escape that cage to go get food. And to make matters worse, there’s evidence that at least a few of these children may have participated in the abuse with the parents."

Aubele expressed his current dilemma regarding the motive behind the abuse, saying, "We’re trying to figure that out. It’s incredibly callous. This child was tortured, and we don’t really understand why. It didn’t seem like any of the other children in the house were suffering any abuse."

A copy of the criminal complaint obtained by KDKA revealed that the girl told authorities she slept in the locked cage every night, where she used to eat only dog food and was shot with a BB gun by her father.

The document also reportedly stated that the victim had been subjected to potentially deadly abuse.

State police reportedly wrote, “It is stated multiple times in the report that she could have died as a result of this egregious abuse and neglect and if she returns to her current environment, she is highly likely to die of abuse and neglect.”

The parents are both being held in Fayette County Jail without bond and are scheduled to appear in court on February 20.

Aubele told KDKA, “This girl’s been through a lot. And it’s only by the grace of God that she was able to survive the torture that she endured."
