YONKERS, NEW YORK: In a recent interview, former FBI Director James Comey criticized Joe Biden and the Department of Justice for its slow pace in investigating former President Donald Trump, labeling it a significant error.

During a conversation with MSNBC's Alex Wagner, Comey shared reflections on the valuable lessons he learned from being at the center of controversy during the 2016 election.

What did James Comey say?

"As someone who's caught a lot of rocks, I'm reluctant to throw any, but I do think they overlearned some of the lessons from my own experience and from the Trump administration, and they were too slow," Comey said, according to Fox News Digital.

He went on to say, "And it's cost us because we finally got a special counsel very late in the game, and we're stuck the way we are."

"I would’ve hoped they would’ve moved faster, but given when they came into office, what they were trying to accomplish, I get why they did it," he further added. "But I still think it was a mistake."

In November 2022, appointed by President Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland designated Jack Smith as special counsel to supervise federal investigations into former President Trump's purported mishandling of classified documents and his involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot.

Department of Justice indicted Trump in two cases last year

The Department of Justice indicted Trump last year in both cases, but a firm trial date for either has not been set yet due to multiple delays and motions.

It appears increasingly likely that the only trial Trump will encounter before the 2024 election is the ongoing case in New York, where he is accused of falsifying business records connected to a hush money payment to Stormy Daniels.

Some Democrats have expressed frustration, feeling that Garland was overly cautious to avoid appearing political during the investigation of Trump. The New York Times described the probe as "maddeningly slow" in an in-depth analysis published in March.

"I think that delay has contributed to a situation where none of these trials may go forward," Rep Adam Schiff, D-Calif, told CNN earlier this year, according to the Times. "The department bears some of that responsibility."

Internet demands James Comey 'should be in prison!!'

As soon as the news went viral on Facebook, the internet started reacting to it.

One wrote, "We want ALL of them prosecuted and put in Prison!! We are not playing this anymore."

Another user added, demanding Comey to be behind bars, "Comey is the one who should be in prison!!"

A commentator wrote, "Because they don’t have anything, it’s all smoke and mirrors to disrupt the election."

"Old Man Trump is going down no matter what just too many cases against him," one person remarked.

A Facebook user stated, "Anti-American democrats."
