WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) claimed that the House Oversight Committee hearing was scheduled as a reaction to former president Donald Trump's poor performance in a past debate against Vice President Kamala Harris.

Jasmine Crockett's criticism of House Oversight Committee hearing and Donald Trump

During the hearing, Jasmine Crockett said, "You know what, this hearing is actually the best example of what waste, fraud, and abuse looks like."

"The only reason we're having this hearing is because somebody got their feelings hurt in a debate, and I don't understand why we're wasting taxpayer dollars," she added.

In a pointed remark aimed at Donald Trump, Crockett added, "Next time, tell your big boy to show up and be ready to handle the woman in the room who hopefully will become the next president of the United States."

Perryman responded, "Within the document itself, there are a number of references to the former administration."

Following up with a specific claim, Crockett said, "Well, if I told you that his name is mentioned approximately 312 times, would you have any reason to dispute that?"

Perryman replied, "I don't have any reason to [dispute it]," according to Raw Story.

Despite Trump denying any involvement with Project 2025 after polls indicated its unpopularity, the conservative program has continued to stir controversy.

Jasmine Crockett condemns lack of diversity

In her closing remarks at the hearing, Jasmine Crockett suggested that the ongoing election cycle reflects deeper pconcerns among Republicans.

Directing her comments towards the House Oversight Committee and pwitnesses, Crockett said, "This election is the best example of why you all are so afraid of diversity, equity, and inclusion."

"Then you can't have a simple-minded under-qualified white man somehow end up ascending," she continued.

In a reference to Harris, Crockett noted, "Instead, you got to pay attention to the qualified Black woman that is on the other side."
