WASHINGTON, DC: Democratic Rep Jasmine Crockett said that the US might not "have elections" in 2028 days after branding President Donald Trump a "dictator".

She made the remarks on Sunday, March 16, during CNN's 'State of the Union' program.

Host Jake Tapper asked Crockett if Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should mount a 2028 primary challenge against Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, according to the New York Post.

During the interview, Tapper asked the Texas congresswoman, "You’re close with congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez … some of your fellow House Democrats say — not just progressives, by the way, we’ve heard moderates have said this too — that they’re ready to support her to challenge Chuck Schumer in a Democratic primary. Would you get behind that?"

Crockett replied, "That’s four years from now. If you were asking me at least in two years then I’d have an absolute answer."

She then added, "But I can tell you that there are a lot of people that are watching this leadership in this moment, this is the moment, we don’t even know what elections will look like in four years, if we will have elections."

Crockett then mentioned that she thinks "younger, fresher leadership" may be something many Americans would be looking at.

Earlier in March 2025, Crockett called President Trump a "dictator" and an "enemy to the United States" during an appearance on MSNBC, per Fox News.

She said, "Unfortunately, we have someone that is occupying the White House, and as far as I’m concerned, he is an enemy to the United States. I don’t know what it’s going to take to get people to wake up."

"He swore an oath just like the rest of us. But right now, when you are literally putting us at risk, all because of what? Because you want to convince your followers that you should be a dictator, too? That you should never leave the White House because you don’t believe that elections should take place?" Crockett added.

Internet slams Jasmine Crockett as she says US might not 'have elections' in 2028

Several internet users slammed Rep Jasmine Crockett as she said the US might not "have elections" in 2028 after doubling down on her earlier narrative of branding President Donald Trump a "dictator".

A user wrote on X, "We not only laugh at her but we laugh at the people who fell for her charades," while one added, "No, only Jasmine Crockett won’t have an election in 4 years."

A person also stated, "They just keep backing closer to the edge of the cliff that they are responsible for eroding in front of them. Let them destroy themselves with "more progressives need to be in positions of power" talk", whereas one mentioned, "I think She talking about the democrat playbook if they would have won the election."

A user also wrote, "More fear-mongering bull**** to start civil wars," while one commented, "Are the people who voted for her sorry? What an embarrassment."
