CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: st a week after drawing parallels between President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement tactics and Nazi Germany, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker claimed he never compared him to Adolf Hitler.

“I haven’t suggested that Donald Trump is Hitler,” Pritzker said during MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace’s The Best People podcast.

Wallace immediately jumped in to defend him, saying no Democrat has ever made such a comparison. “I don’t think any Democrat has,” she said. “I think it’s a smear that they project back onto critics. JD Vance called Donald Trump cultural heroin, he called him America’s Hitler. The attacks on Donald Trump as a fascist came from three-star generals who worked for him.”



Déjà Vu at The Economic Club of Chicago

Just a few days ago, at a speech before The Economic Club of Chicago, Pritzker had appeared to draw a direct comparison between Trump’s use of ICE and border patrol agents and how Nazi Germany targeted Jews before the Holocaust.

“This is how authoritarian regimes do it,” Pritzker warned. “They create these fake ideas that there’s an enemy out there, and it could be sitting next to you at one of these tables. That’s how they justify rounding people up.”



He also recalled conversations with Holocaust survivors. “Sitting next to Holocaust survivors, what they’ll tell you is, ‘This is what happened — people’s rights started getting taken away. People got accused of being immigrants.’ That was before the Holocaust really took place,” he said.

However, Pritzker’s own posts tell a different story. In October last year, he wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “The way Donald Trump praises and romanticizes Hitler is unhinged, disturbing, and disqualifying. He is a dictator-in-waiting. We know exactly what he’ll do if he’s in power again. It cannot happen.” 

Nicolle Wallace’s claim about Democrats doesn’t hold up

While Wallace insisted that no Democrat has compared Trump to Hitler, several top Democrats have made remarks drawing similar parallels.

President Joe Biden said Trump uses “Hitler language” in a 2024 campaign post.



Vice President Kamala Harris agreed when asked by Anderson Cooper if she thought Trump was a fascist. 



Hillary Clinton once said one of Trump’s rallies looked like “a Nazi rally.”



Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett called Trump a “wannabe Hitler” and later “Temu Hitler.”



White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre echoed concerns last year, saying President Biden agreed with reports that Trump displayed fascist tendencies.

“To be praising Adolf Hitler is dangerous, and it’s also disgusting,” Jean-Pierre said at a briefing.
