JD Vance recalls Trump made a 'wife joke' about Melania when he first met his wife Usha
WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump's running mate JD Vance recalled the time when the GOP Presidential nominee cracked a 'wife joke' about Melania when he first met Vance's wife Usha.
The Republican nominee for vice president recounted the meet during a town hall with the conservative non-profit group Moms for America in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday night.
During the first meeting between the Vance family and Trump, the former president asked about Usha's thoughts on her husband’s political career, which led to a joke about Melania, per The Mirror US.

JD Vance recalled the moment, "If anybody knows my wife, it's like the perfect Usha answer—it's a very diplomatic answer. It's like: 'Well, sir, my husband really loves public service, we love the state of Ohio, and I'm just really thrilled to be able to help him out where I can.'"
According to Vance, Trump responded to her statement and said, "'Yeah, my wife hates it too.'" The crowd laughed after hearing the remark and Vance also expressed his appreciation for Trump's candidness.
He said, "That's what I love about Trump—Trump finds the real truth in something and whether you want him to say it or not, he just points his finger right at it."
JD Vance's wife Usha is a renowned attorney who clerked for Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh before the latter's appointment. She later entered into corporate litigation at a highly regarded law firm in San Francisco, Munger, Tolles, and Olson, per the outlet.
JD and Usha got married in 2014. Usha's parents are Indian immigrants.
Donald Trump reveals he was initially 'nervous' about Melania's memoir
Donald Trump revealed that he was initially "nervous" about his wife Melania's memoir. Trump appeared on the Nelk Boys' YouTube channel where the host asked about the sales performance of the book and her impact on his Presidential campaign.
Trump answered, "She wrote something very good. I was a little bit nervous before I read it. You never know, maybe she said bad things, but she didn't."
The former president also recognized her influence during the interview but did not label her book a "secret weapon". He said, "I wouldn't call it a weapon. 'Secret weapon' is a tough term. But she's great. She's a wonderful person. She was a great first lady. People love her."
The memoir titled 'Melania' was published in the weeks preceding the election in November. The book consists of different aspects, such as her opinions on reproductive rights, her early professional life, parenting, and her interactions with the media.
