JD Vance under fire for 'agreeing' to controversial opinion about postmenopausal women in resurfaced clip
COLUMBUS, OHIO: Sen JD Vance (R-OH), the 2024 Republican vice-presidential candidate, seemingly agreed with a podcast host in 2020 that the “whole purpose of the postmenopausal female” is to assist in raising grandchildren, according to HuffPost.
The Ohio senator’s comments came during an appearance on ‘The Portal’ podcast, hosted by Eric Weinstein, who was then the managing director of an investment firm established by Peter Thiel, the billionaire supporter of Vance.

Sen Vance was discussing how the mother of his wife, Usha Vance, took a one-year sabbatical to help take care of their newborn son.
What ‘weird’ remarks did JD Vance make during the podcast appearance in 2020?
The aforementioned podcast was brought to light by Heartland Signal.
“You can sort of see the effect it has on him to be around them, they spoil him, all the classic stuff that grandparents do to grandchildren,” Vance remarked. “But it makes him a much better human being to have exposure to his grandparents.”
Weinstein responded, "That’s the whole purpose of the postmenopausal female in theory."

Vance seemingly agreed with the statement in the middle of the conversation. Later, Weinstein mentioned that having grandparents available to help with a newborn was a “weird, unadvertised feature of marrying an Indian woman," which Vance, whose in-laws immigrated from India, did not challenge.
A spokesperson for the Buckeye State senator, who officially became former President Donald Trump’s running mate at the Republican National Convention last month, refuted allegations that Vance had agreed with the statements.
“The media is dishonestly putting words in JD’s mouth — of course he does not agree with what the host said,” the spokesperson told the Daily Beast. “JD reacted to the first part of the host’s sentence, assuming he was going to say: ‘that’s the whole purpose of spending time with grandparents.’”

The spokesperson added, “It’s a disgrace that the media is lying about JD instead of holding Kamala Harris accountable for her policies that caused sky high prices for groceries and everyday necessities, a disaster at the southern border, and a historic drug overdose epidemic.”
The comments pose another challenge to Vance’s attempts to garner support for the Trump ticket ahead of the November election. Last month, past remarks he had made associating Vice President Kamala Harris with the left wing’s "childless cat ladies" who are "miserable" with their lives caused a stir on the campaign trail.
However, Democratic organizers embraced the characterization and have used it to garner more support for her presidential campaign.
Internet fumes as JD Vance is accused of insulting ‘postmenopausal’ women
One X user remarked, "This dude is disgusting. He wants women as free labor until we drop. No thanks. Stop demanding women be caregivers. I don’t want that job."
