WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, headed to Ohio to campaign for local Republican candidates ahead of the midterm elections.

However, their four-year-old daughter, Mirabel, became an unexpected highlight when she was seen skipping ahead of her parents while boarding Air Force Two at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, on Friday, October 9.

JD Vance’s daughter Mirabel draws attention during Ohio campaign trip

JD Vance, 42, and Usha Vance, 40, were seen boarding Air Force Two at Joint Base Andrews as they prepared to travel to Ohio.

The couple were heading there to campaign for local Republican candidates ahead of the November midterm elections.

While the trip was focused on supporting Republican candidates, their youngest daughter, Mirabel, four, became a memorable part of the departure.

She was captured skipping ahead of her parents as she made her way onto the plane.

Mirabel, who was dressed in a green dress adorned with dinosaurs, was seen excitedly running towards the aircraft and doing a few little hops along the way.

The youngster tied a lavender sweater around her waist and wore red and white sneakers, along with large headphones to protect her ears from the sound of the helicopter.

The footage also showed their six-year-old son, Vivek, boarding the aircraft earlier while holding the family dog, Atlas.

Usha Vance catches herself after stumbling while carrying newborn Alec

Mirabel’s moment on the campaign trail came days after Usha had a close call while carrying her newborn son, Alec.

On Monday, October 5, the Second Lady was filmed stumbling as she stepped off a Marine Two helicopter at Joint Base Andrews.

Usha was carrying two-month-old Alec in a carrier around her chest when she appeared to miss a step while exiting the aircraft.

She was dressed in a brown top, a plaid high-waisted skirt and knee-high heeled boots.

She managed to catch herself by grabbing the staircase railings before regaining her balance and continuing with a smile.

The guards waiting at the bottom of the stairs did not move during the incident.

Footage of the moment was shared on X, bringing attention to the stumble and how Usha handled it while holding her baby.

JD exited the helicopter after her, carrying Mirabel in his arms.

JD and Usha Vance welcomed their fourth child in July

The Vances welcomed their fourth child, Alec Neel Vance, in July. JD announced the birth in a statement, sharing that both Usha and their newborn son were doing well.

“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning,” the Vice President wrote at the time.

“Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”

JD also thanked the medical teams who helped care for Usha and Alec, including the military doctors and staff members at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit.

“We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family,” he added, describing their support as a “blessing.”

Alec’s arrival made the couple parents of four children. Along with Mirabel and Vivek, the Vice President and Second Lady also share their nine-year-old son, Ewan.
