WASHINGTON, DC: MSNBC host Jen Psaki voiced her frustration with the way Democratic Party leaders speak during a recent episode of her newly launched podcast, 'The Blueprint with Jen Psaki', reported Mediaite on Monday, February 17.

A former White House Press Secretary herself, Psaki felt Democrats approach issues like working on a "PhD thesis" and therefore fail to connect with the people. Her opinion was seconded by her guest on the episode, former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

According to the publication, Psaki started her podcast to discuss “the lessons learned from the 2024 election and how Democrats will navigate a changing information environment," especially during the second presidency of Donald Trump.

Jen Psaki's complaint against Democratic leaders

Jen Psaki claimed Democrats get on her nerves by speaking in the tongue of "political academia" which does not help the party win elections.

"So one of the things, and this is, I always laugh when people call me a Washington insider, which I maybe I am, but because I feel like I grew up in politics, like working on political campaigns," began Paski. "And what drives me crazy is the way sometimes Democrats talk. It drives me insane!"

"It’s like we’re in a PhD thesis on political academia, which is not how you win elections!" she continued, sharing that her guest Emanuel had previously said on the subject, "Democrats talk like we are adjunct professors at a small liberal arts college of the Midwest."

While Psaki was sure that she "would love a small liberal arts college of the Midwest," she pointed out, "But like, that’s not how most people talk."

Emanuel, who Psaki claimed had called out Democrats on her shows for "reading from a sheet of talking point," stated on the subject, "Democrats, we love people to know that we’re smart and that we go our PhD. We’re gonna show you our thesis."

"And it comes across not only that, as a self and close conversation. It is tremendously dismissive of them. The audience," he continued. "We’re actually talking to ourselves about how important, how smart we are rather than how to make sure that they understand. We’re more interested in the sound of our own voice."

Jen Psaki's opinion divides Internet

Netizens reacting to Jen Psaki's comments on the Mediaite website were divided in their views. The following comments demonstrate the prevalent takes.

"People don't like being lectured... History has shown that people are turned off by that kind of behavior...regardless of who it comes from," wrote a person.

"I do agree with her. Time to call MAGA out for what it is. Un American. Stop Mincing words and the Democrats in the Senate need to get off their b***s," shared another.

"When talking to stupid, it's important to sound stupid. It's called being relatable," mocked a third.

"Typical coastal elitist thinking how we are speaking is the problem rather than the substance," jibed a fourth.

"No. Keep up the condescension. It’s working out great. Keep telling everyone how much smarter you guys are," chided a fifth.

"Oh Jen, let the Democrats be what they are!" expressed yet another.
