WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump became the first president in the history of the United States to display his mug shot outside the Oval Office, TMZ reported on Friday, February 14.

The framed picture was visible in photographs taken by the press when Donald Trump met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House the day before, and the door to the Oval Office was left open.

Visuals with the mugshot have since gone viral across social media, with many calling out the 78-year-old commander-in-chief for proving his street cred in office.

Trump's mugshot was part of New York Post cover

The photograph hung up by Trump in the White House hallway is from the front page of the New York Post, where they published a cover story about him in August 2023.

The mug shot was taken at the time at Fulton County jail in Atlanta, Georgia when Trump faced racketeering charges with 14 other people for allegedly attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the swing state.

It has since turned into a symbol of persecution and defiance in the eyes of MAGA supporters. The business tycoon made good of the opportunity by selling emblazoned merchandise to fund his 2024 presidential campaign. He also wore a similar expression when he posed for the official portrait for his second term.

Internet reacts to Trump's mugshot outside Oval Office

Since the news of Trump's mug shot outside the Oval Office went viral, the White House itself uploaded a picture of it on its official X account. The following tweets demonstrate the reaction from netizens.

"I'm sure he is very proud of being a 34-count felon. Which just shows the major issues with his presidency and the large parts of the justice system in itself," wrote a user.

"You’ve made our country a laughing stock. Congrats," stated another.

"Embarrassing for our country," noted a third.

"Such a narcissistic move," jibed a fourth.

"We live in the dumbest, most absurd and embarrassing timeline," noted a fifth.

"He's a legend in his own mind," quipped yet another.

However, MAGA supporters defended the move online, writing, "Sweet revenge. Enjoy!"

"If you had gone through all that he went through, wouldn’t you too?" asked another.
