WASHINGTON, DC: MSNBC host Jen Psaki called President Joe Biden's executive order on border security a means to address a major "political vulnerability" for the incumbent ahead of the general elections in November, during her appearance on the show 'Morning Joe.'

According to Fox News, Biden signed an executive action that will temporarily shut down asylum requests once the average number of daily encounters crosses 2,500 between official ports of entry on Tuesday, June 4. The border would reopen only after that number falls to 1,500 over a seven-day average.

Jen Psaki on Joe Biden's political calculations

On the subject of border security and Biden's executive action, the former White House press secretary began, "I think there are a couple of things that are true at the same time. One, the system, the border is broken for a range of reasons including security being broken at the border. The wall is not gonna fix—I mean, technology's advanced, I would say, over the past couple of decades. There's lots of technology that can be used to secure the border. That's part of what needs to happen. If you're in the minds of the White House, you want to do that."

"Also, pairing with a more humane asylum system, which is completely broken and unfair to the people who are seeking asylum and trying to come across the border."

She went on to blame the former President and presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump for blocking the bipartisan border bill earlier this year, adding, "There needs to be something that's done, but also, politically, this is one of the biggest vulnerabilities."

"And regardless of who's mad about the details of what's in here and what isn't in here, it's a political vulnerability for the president and his campaign," admitted Psaki. "They know that. They knew they would have to do something like an executive order before the election politically as well. And that's what we're seeing play out."

Internet trolls Jen Psaki for stating the obvious

"Ya don't say lol 🤣" jibed another.

"We all know," echoed a third.

"Just another joke," chided a fourth user.

"Basically they let in a lot of illegals and they are good for now. Gotta clean it up shiny before the election," commented a fifth.
