NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin discussed the executive order on border security passed by Joe Biden. The incumbent signed the action stating in his announcement speech, "The border is not a political issue to be weaponized."

A senior administrative official told the publication that the executive action would temporarily shut down asylum requests once the average number of daily encounters tops 2,500 between official ports of entry. The shutdown would be effective immediately, and the border would only reopen after the number falls to 1,500. However, there will be some exceptions to the executive action, which includes unaccompanied children.

Alyssa Farah Griffin's take on the executive action

"He is using an executive action to basically limit the number of asylum seekers that can come in," Griffin said of Biden at the Hot Topics table. "But I am basically just frustrated with how this debate has gone in our country and I think there are responsibilities on both sides."

She argued that every nation has to deal with border security issues, stating, "I think what Democrats got wrong early in this, and especially the left flank of the party, is to basically say, 'You're bigoted and you're racist if you see there needs to be some level of border security. What Republicans got wrong is they got the best border package in decades, and they blocked it because (of) Donald Trump."

"It is a crisis. It ranks as a top issue for voters," continued Hostin, demonstrating how it impacts every citizen. She cited the example of hotel prices rising in NY as 15 per cent of them were being used to shelter migrants in the city.

"So there are real impacts that we have. (Biden) has 5 months to prove that he can help solve this process. I will say this, Joe Biden can't live in fear of his left-wing or he's gonna lose," she concluded.

Sara Haines compares executive order to a 'band-aid'

Haines felt that Biden was forced to sign the executive order, as he did not have enough votes to pass the border security bill.

"The problem with this executive order, in making Biden do that, is it doesn’t include a lot of the more comprehensive parts that that bill does, which is, they have antiquated systems down there. They don’t have enough help, they don't have enough judges, social workers, all the things. That bill included so much more," she said.

"So, this is a band-aid that he's been forced to do, and so some people are calling it political, but ... something needs to be done. Because if we've watched this happen for decades and decades, and now it exploded … It did get really, after Donald Trump and Title 42 expired, the numbers have gotten too great. But it'd be really nice if they (lawmakers) could just do their jobs," she added.

Internet slams Joe Biden over border issue

The internet blasted Joe Biden for signing an executive order on border security.

"He’s had nearly 4 years to take care of the border..NOTHING!! NOW, he’s attempting to do something. He’s a failure..PERIOD," a user wrote about Joe Biden in response to the co-hosts' discussion over the social media platform X.

"Everyone knows Biden lied all these months and had the power to close the border. This lame executive order is BS and he's doing it for votes as he continues to plummet in the polls. 🤡 This still allows 1.8M illegals into our country annually," stated another.

"'Responsibility on both sides' Alyssa? No, this border crisis was 100 per cent caused by Joe Biden and his open-border executive orders. Stop your lying," commented a third.

"U all forgot to mention that the border was pretty much under control with Trump until Biden, out of sheer resentment & disdain for Trump ended all the orders that were working! Now you praise him for finally doing something? His orders fix nothing! U let 0 in illegally not 2500," chided a fourth user.

"Ahhhh, the token, former Republican speaks. I'm sure that infuriated her counter parts," read a comment mocking Griffin on the Fox News website.

"I’m so looking forward to “the view” co-hosts having major meltdowns in early November," expressed another.
