NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin discussed the gun trial of Hunter Biden at the Hot Topics table on the Tuesday, June 4, 2024, episode of 'The View'.

According to AP News, the son of President Joe Biden is currently facing trial in Delaware on three felony charges stemming from the purchase of a Colt revolver during a period in which he was, according to his memoir, addicted to crack.

He has been accused of lying to a federally licensed gun dealer, making a false claim on the application by saying he was not a drug user and illegally possessing the gun for 11 days.

'The View' host Sunny Hostin's take on Hunter Biden gun trial

While broaching the subject, Goldberg slammed former president Donald Trump, who had repeatedly accused President Biden of meddling with the justice system to influence his hush money trial.

"Don't you think if he had that much power, Hunter probably wouldn't be on trial?" One of the hosts asked.

"Of course," agreed Hostin, picking up the discussion. "I love that question because not only Hunter Biden (being) on trial shows that no one is above the law, President Biden has indicated (that) if he is convicted, he will not pardon him. Because no one is above the law."

Hostin goes on to explain that she finds the case "interesting."

"It's a case about buying a firearm and lying on your application saying that you have never used drugs, and he was an active addict at the time. Some people argue that you are always an addict and you live day to day..."

"Out of the cases that are investigated, there are 80 million Americans that have purchased firearms, only about a thousand a year are investigated, (and) 12 are prosecuted. That is 0.09% of the cases. Less than 1% of the cases are investigated, but guess what? Hunter is one of them, and I say that's how this country should be," she added.

Joy Behar says she will not 'vote for Hunter Biden'

In her turn, Joy Behar noted that Hunter Biden "had the support of his family," taking a dig at Trump.

"Joe Biden ... is not insulting the judge or inciting threats against the judge's family, which you-know-who (Trump) has done. He is not attacking the criminal justice system or calling the trial rigged... He is not blaming the Republicans for bringing the charges, and he is not asking the Supreme Court to intervene."

"So the discrepancy, the differences between the two cases (Trump and Hunter Biden's respective trials) are interesting," she said, before highlighting, "By the way, I am not going to vote for Hunter Biden as President."
