Jennifer Lopez has little support amid marriage issues while Ben Affleck has sympathy of his exes

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are no strangers to making headlines due to their marital woes, which recently led to them moving out of their shared home. 

Amid these marital strains, new reports have surfaced about Lopez finding comfort in her family members, including her mom, sisters, children and two pals from her close circle of friends.

Conversely, Affleck is relying on his close friend and fellow A-lister, Matt Damon, for support during this time.

Additionally, Affleck is receiving support from his exes - Jennifer Garner and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Meaww previously reported that Affleck is being backed by Paltrow, who might become his "uncoupling therapist," and Garner, which has reportedly fueled Lopez's anger.

Jennifer Lopez criticized several fellow actors during 1998 interview

In the past, Lopez faced criticism for her perceived difficult personality and comments from a resurfaced 1998 interview, as per DailyMail.

During that interview, she confidently discussed her talents and criticized several fellow actors, including Salma Hayek, Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, Madonna, and others, suggesting they were not on her level.

She remarked about Hayek, "She's a sexy bombshell and those are the kinds of roles she does. I do all kinds of different things", and accused Hayek of lying about being offered the role of 'Selena' in 1997. 

Then, she described Diaz as "a lucky model who's been given a lot of opportunities" but acknowledged Diaz's potential under good direction.

Lopez was less kind towards Paltrow, questioning her career achievements compared to her ex, Brad Pitt. Gwyneth would later win an Oscar for 'Shakespeare in Love'.

Regarding Ryder, Lopez admitted she "was never a big fan" despite her acclaim in Hollywood. 

Lopez then explained, "She gets nominated for Oscars, but I've never heard anyone in the public or among my friends say, 'Oh, I love her.'"

She also shared opinions on Danes who had 'a good start' in theatrical prowess.

Further she claimed about Madonna's acting abilities, defending her craft as an actress. "Acting is what I do, so I'm harder on people when they say, 'Oh, I can do that--I can act'," she explained. 'I'm like, "Hey, don't spit on my craft.'"

Reflecting on the controversial interview in later years, Lopez described it as a "sore subject" due to misquotes and out-of-context remarks that caused backlash in the industry. 

She expressed, "I don't like to hurt anybody. I don't like to hurt their feelings. I like to joke, so I do that sometimes. What they wrote in that article hurt people"

Jennifer Lopez maintains close relationships with her close circle of friends

Despite the controversies, Lopez appears to be navigating through her life and career with the support of her close circle amid various challenges, including her recent tense moments with co-stars and reported issues with her former best friend Leah Remini.

However, Lopez and Remini have reportedly reconnected amid rumors of the star's marital troubles.

Leah, who had been a longtime friend of Lopez and was absent from her wedding to Ben in August 2022 after an argument regarding the marriage, expressed concerns about Ben's commitment.

This disagreement led Jennifer to “cut off all ties” with Leah in anger.

Earlier this year, sources indicated that Leah, who has been friends with Lopez since they first met in 2004, wanted to reconnect but was cautious about the approach. Eventually, Leah reached out to Lopez, and they have since spoken to each other.

Their friendship, occasionally rocky, was also referenced last September by Michelle Visage, who hinted at underlying tensions between the two during an interview on the 'Las Culturistas' podcast.

Lopez and Leah first bonded in 2004 when Lopez was with Marc Anthony, and Leah shared amusing anecdotes about their first meeting at a premiere.

Despite occasional bumps, they've described their connection as akin to sisters but with their unique dynamic. Leah shared on a show, “We're very close, like sisters are. But in a different way that sisters are,”

Lopez then expressed about Leah, “We understand each other's lives. We have similar lives and similar careers, and we understand nuances that other people don't understand, so that also bonded us.”

She dubbed the actress “courageous, caring and generous", while Leah jumped in to say her friend was "loving, warm, fiercely loyal, courageous, brave, true and authentic”.

Lopez has also maintained a long-term friendship with Jane Fonda since their collaboration on the 2005 film 'Monster-In-Law'.

Lopez acclaimed, “I want you to know that I don't entirely know why, but I feel invested in you and Ben, and I really want this to work. However, this is my concern. Like, it feels too much like you're trying to prove something instead of just living it.”

Jane then referred to Affleck and Lopez's red carpet PDA, "You know, every other photograph is the two of you kissing and the two of you hugging."

Then Lopez replied with a laugh saying, "That's just us living our life."
